Based on past examples, what are the chances of XFL merch being worth something?

I don’t know, this might be more of an IMHO question, but I think with looking for answers based on past examples GQ is slightly the better place for it.

Anyway, after the death of the XFL, I went looking around their Web site and eventually made my way to their shop, xflshop.com. Suffice to say, they’re having a clearance sale and all their stuff is from around 30-50 percent off – with the likelihood of going cheaper later – and it got me thinking.

What are the odds that this stuff will be worth something some day? Are there markets nowadays for USFL jerseys? AFL footballs? Womens baseball league caps? And if so, would that apply favorably to the XFL, which was never really a popular or media favorite to begin with?

Especially with half off these jerseys, I’m toying with buying one in belated support, as I actually enjoyed the league. I was just curious if it might be worthwhile to buy an extra and sock it away for 20 years as either nostalgia or an investment. Either way, if their official gameball footballs get to 50 percent off, I’m DEFINITELY buying one of those. XFL or not, those are some high-quality footballs!

Moderators, if you feel this is more an IMHO topic, please feel free to move.

Buy it to make you happy and consider any increase in marketability to be a bonus. FWIW I can’t wrap my head around how the XFL merch would increase in collectibility anytime soon. The league was so sort lived who would it have any sentimental meaning for besides ex-XFL players and with them going back to bagging groceries at the Piggly Wiggly, I don’t think they’re going to be in a big spender mode anytime soon.

Based on my sports memorabilia book, the only XFL merchandise (judging by USFL standards) that will have much/any value is that of an individual player that goes on to greatness in the NFL.

That being said, I’d still like to have a HeHateMe card.
