Bathing question

How often should someone bathe who has a sedentary job and does no strenuous work and does not severly perspire? Do Europeans bath less frequently than the average American? Do Americans bath too frequently and deplete the oils in their skin causing premature drying and aging?

Everyone should bathe at least once a day, regardless of how much you perspire. This is because all sorts of glands (especially in your crotch area) continuously secrete bacteria-laden stuff all day, even if you spend it sitting in front of a computer.

…I have heard the opinion before that once a day is too much. Besides, do the bacteria-laden secretions reach some sort of critical mass after 24 hours? If they’re being produced all the time, what difference does it make if you only change them every 48 hours instead?

FTR I bathe twice a day myself. I don’t like to feel sweaty is all.

I bathe twice a week. I’m not kidding.

I am not dirty, I do not smell or have any other kind of ordor. Nor do I get comments on my unkempt appearance. Quite the opposite actually.

I keep myself neat and clean but simply do not shower everyday. Its always shocked me about people who are so bathing obessive and I think it really is a North American thing.

I am almost never sick either and I attribute it to the fact that I haven’t completely stripped my immune system by needlessly washing. Which is what you people who insist on using those anti-bacterial soaps are doing.

Naturally I bath after a vigorous workout or such and I play sports regularly. But once a day is just propaganda.

This “once a day” phenomenon is a very recent invention, the last 50 years to be sure.

I mean, if you enjoy it and who doesn’t enjoy a nice hot bath, but neccessary? No.

I guess it all depends on the climate where you live and how dirty or sweaty you get.

Just try living in hot & humid South Florida and not bathing at least once a day. No freakin way!

I’m a once-a-day gal, but I must admit, it’s more for my hair than the rest of me. Hubby is an every-other-day guy. I do think it is North American propaganda. I’ll bet most people don’t even notice that their friends and co-workers bathe less than every day.
