IANAE yet the critters battazoid which I’ve handled were of the biped persuasion, and the insectazoids were either sextopeds or arachnid in their leggyary classification. Your phylum may vary.
If you’ve ever had the opportunity to see a bat up close, they are really neat creatures. My last encounter was with a terrified little beastie who welcomed being taken out of doors and set free from his errant indoor journey. After capturing him, it was clear that I was enjoying being with him much more so than he with me. Through my gloves, I could feel his tiny heart thundering. 
Yup, I’ll betcha a nickel you remember that from Calvin and Hobbes. Jeepers I loved that comic strip.

The quote isn’t “Bats are not bugs.” It’s “BATS AREN’T BUGS!”, with the spiky-outlined word balloon that denotes excitement. The panel depicts Calvin, from behind, standing stock still, as we see the little faces of his classmates screaming the above quote at him. In the final panel, we see Calvin, annoyed, holding the report in his right hand and gesturing to himself with his left, saying, “Hey, who’s giving this report? You chowderheads, or me?!?” And Miss Wormwood saying, “Calvin, I’d like to see you a minute?”
All that came from memory.

Upon reviewing Sionach’s link, I find that I got a couple of the words wrong, and missed a full ellipsis. I must now go flog myself in shame and recite seven hundred "Hail Calvin"s to make up for my transgression.
