I think he does mean open mic, and that little example he gave as being one of the downsides absolutely happened last night. It was hilarious!
Yeah. Leave it to Beef to totally get scared because of a bug and scream his little head off, leaving the rest of us to wonder if he was being murdered.
I have it all on fraps too, where you can clearly see my editi… eh, the part where it’s clearly him and NOT me who is screaming.
If true about the fraps, linky please.
Yes.
Unfortunately I wasn’t recording at the time. We just heard a few panicked screams that sounded so dramatic that we thought they were on a movie in someone’s background. But then we started wondering if someone was being murdered, and then figuring out how we were going to call the police and say SOMEONE FROM THE INTERNET IS GETTING KNIFED.
I made a video compilation of some of the catastrophically awesome stuff I did in helicopters when I was first getting the hang of them.
How do people feel about the M240 versus the M249? The former seems like it has more stopping power but i already have over 300 kills with the latter.
M240 is better (more power) if the bipod is deployed because otherwise, the recoil is difficult to manage.
M249 has manageable recoil with a foregrip. The bipod is useful but you can still use the M249 to good effect without it.
When playing defense, the M240 can be preferable. For all-around purposes, I’d go with the M249.
That makes sense. Thanks. I’ll probably just stick with the 249 then, as I move quite a bit.
Might as well give everything a try.
But then I’d have to give up my sweet, sweet scope.
“You have team killed Captain_Cracker… You have team killed RMcNally… You have team killed Kinthalis…”
Why do we keep getting in the chopper with you?!
Get yourself away from your cheat scope for a bit. Getting up to 100 kills with the M240 shouldn’t take too long. You might find that you have more skill than I and be able to use the M240 effectively without a bipod.
My favorite line was " Im going to pretend like we are crashing so he jumps out"
My favorite: See, I’m too lazy to set up my joystick. It takes like three…oh shit.
Sure, post some cool videos that show different aspects of gameplay and also a few where I kick ass, and all everyone wants to talk about are the ones where I end up upside down in a helicopter.
Well I’m comfortable with the flight model now. My new thing is buzzing friendly soldiers and vehicles by flying 2 inches above their head. I’ll post a compilation of that sometime.
So anyway - we were talking last night about why would you eve want to bother to play team deathmatch when conquest has deathmatch elements in addition to strategic goals and seemed better. That’s true, but now I recall that squad deathmatch, if it’s the same as BC2, is different. 4 squads of 4 players do a free for all deathmatch with the highest kill count winning. There’s also a king of the hill element as one IFV spawns in the center of the map. We should give that a try.
Has anyone figured out what the symbols above people’s head mean when you’re a medic? Sometimes you see a little EKG/defibrilator icon, and sometimes you see a skull and crossbones.
At first I thought that obviously the ekg icon meant they were revivable and the skull and crossbones meant they were dead (meaning they died in a way that prevented reviving or they were already too far in the respawn process to be saved). But then I found out that half the time you can revive people with the skull and crossbones.
But it’s weird, because often the EKG symbol transitions into the skull and crossbones after a while, which suggests it’s meant to tell us they go from revivable into non-revivable. I’ve even seen it go back and forth between the two icons.
It’s not a squad/non-squad thing as far as I can tell.
Also, why is it that you sometimes see health bars when shooting an enemy and sometimes you don’t?
Incidentally, the current metacritic rating for BF3 on PC is 89, which I think is significantly too low. It’s truly a great game and deserves at least a 93ish.
I think the biggest problem may be the single player. I haven’t played all the way through, but from what I heard it’s too much of a copy of COD. Too scripted, too only rails, infinite enemies until you cross the magical line, etc. I don’t know why they tried to copy COD - the great thing about BF is that it does so much more than COD, so why not highlight that? Make more vehicle based missions, more open, less scripted missions.
Or just scrap the single player all together. I bet if they released it as a multiplayer game only like previous battlefield games, the metascore would actually rise because people wouldn’t be ticking off points for a mediocre single player campaign.
Can you talk to me about air vehicles?
I tried to find a corded 360 controller and the sales guy laughed at me. Said they were out of production.
He said after market corded controllers would not work on a PC.
They also looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about cordless working on a PC.
I love flight games, and feel like I am missing out on this aspect of the game.
I have a pretty nice Saitek stick I used for IL-2 Sturm a while back, so I think I can handle the flight.
I have heard there are issues with the controls. Can anyone help me out with a quick set up and problems or “things I wish I’d have known” about flying?
Also, why are the choppers so difficult?
Thanks.
No idea about the corded 360 controllers being out of production, they’d certainly be on ebay. You can use this to use wireless xbox 360 devices on your PC though. If you only want to use a gamepad on your pc I’d save the money and just ebay a wired controller.
But if you just want to fly, why not get a joystick? The gamepad will work ok, but a decent joystick (as long as it has a twist handle or some sort of rudder control and a throttle) will be better across the board. You might want to get a gamepad for general utility (racing games, platformers, etc) in which case it’s a decent investment, but if you just want to fly, get a joystick.
Choppers aren’t really difficult - they’re pretty straightforward. It just takes a bit of practice to get the hang of it. What specifically are you having difficulty with?
