Battlefield 3

I made a dumpster mortar video to show how boring it is. Of course it looks a little less boring because I cut out all the misses, but still… the old system was more challenging and better.

I saw my first two 50 level players last night, in fact the first officers i’d seen. My first thought was “cheaters”, but then I remembered that some people have a lot more time on their hands then I do. But since you can’t look at peoples stats ill never know.

Just pull up a battle log like this one in the game you were playing with them, then click on the person and you can get their stats.

That looks boring, i assume the mechanic gets the mortar?

The hell is that bullshit?

Seems extremely cheap.

It’s a support class gadget. You don’t have to use it, you could equip C4 or claymores instead.

I don’t understand what you’re asking. Did you respond to the right post?

No, I think it’s total bullshit that I didn’t know you could pull out stats on palyers like this. It will make my stalking easier Beef. Much easier.

 Actually it was a response to the mortar vid you showed.

Queues were just starting to live!

Just got this message from our server host:

Re: Join queue
Nov 02 2011 01:12:49 PM PT The join queue causes server crashes and just plain doesn’t work most of the time right now, so EA has instructed us to turn it off. Most servers now have this turned off, and others will have it off following the next restart.

So before I cover the map a foot deep in anti-tank mines, can my anti-tank mines blow up a tank driven by someone on my team?

I am

Ok, so we all piled into a transport chopper tonight. A pilot, two gunners, and two passengers. The passengers are able to shoot out the side of the helicopters - or, and this is stupid, repair the helicopter in mid-flight at a ridiculously fast rate. Or launch stingers at other aircraft.

Now the survivability is ridiculously overpowered, but the lethality isn’t terribly high - for some reason the miniguns aren’t that lethal. So you’re sort of like a tank class in an MMO - you don’t deal out much damage, but you taunt everyone within half a mile to do nothing but shoot at you, and you’re able to take a lot of damage doing it.

Just wanted to say that I watched all the videos you have posted in this thread last night and they were all fun to watch.

When you guys are on Venty, do you use push to talk?

It almost sounds like you have voice activation on.

I use my right control button, but it always makes me stop moving or shooting to use it.

Any tips on a good button to use or maybe what you are doing?

Looked great, guys. The imortal chopper and tanks were quite telling. Think they will be adjusting that repair skill soon?

I use voice activate, but I quickly found out you need a really good noise cancelling mic for that to work properly. My Logitech G930 couldn’t handle it and everyone heard me breathing.

My Sennheiser headset + Soundblaster audio card works like a charm however.

I hate push to talk precisely because it takes you out of what you are doing, and the moments you want to say something are usually moments when you’re busy doing something cool.

I use PTT, the left Alt button. It’s easy to reach with my left hand and I don’t think it’s bound to anything in the game, is it?

Both good tips.

Kinthalis, I think I have a similar headset, I will give it a try and see how it works.

Cowboy, that sounds like a better button for me to use, honestly.

I have no idea if it is bound to anything, but I have never used it in the game.

I have my PTT set to one of the thumb buttons on my mouse. If you can afford an 8-button mouse, I recommend it. Very handy for grenades too.

James Bond would be proud (not actually me).

Push to talk is the easiest way to go, but extremely annoying to others if you don’t set it up properly. You need a decent mic, a quiet environment, and you need to run the monitor/test functions in the ventrilo setup to set the correct threshold.

There are certain downsides to having PTT on. For instance, if you’re in the other room and encounter a bug that makes you yell at the top of your lungs like you’re being murdered with an axe, your friends might hear you and laugh at you for the rest of the night.

My ISP went out last night until just about 30 minutes ago…
sorry for the abrupt departure. Anyways, I was terrible and need to play a bit to understand how the game works.

You mean open mic right?
