Ok i installed Afterburner and turned the fans to 100%, i’ve never heard my computer this loudly before so i can only assume this wasn’t happening before. I was able to play for about an hour without a shutdown. So is there any problem with leaving the fan on at 100%? besides the noise that is.
It will wear the fan out faster and use more energy. I can’t say if you’ll notice either of those. The energy usage is minimal and you could potentially replace that card long before the fan wears out even when it’s running 100% all the time.
Is there a profile you can setup on Afterburner to change the fan speed relative to temperature? I know one of those programs had it but can’t really remember which.
I was just judging 80 degrees as a bad temperature because my computer will reset somewhere in the 80 degree range. It may vary by card and motherboard. But 80 is pretty hot nonetheless and cooler is better.
Yep. Make sure you use the fna profile feature and set up your fan to move up in speed as the temp increases. you don;t want to run the fan at 100% at all time. Just when you’re doing heavy duty gaming.
MSI Afterburner and EVGA Precision both are based on RivaTuner. They allow you to click on a temperature/fan speed graph to set up a curve. I have mine reach 100% when I’m over 70 degrees or so.
Are you guys talking celsius or farenheiht (however you spell that dang word) ?
Those numbers are celsius.
Can we start another thread about any technical issues people are having? I’d be happy to help, but for someone catching up to the thread about game discussion, it’d be a turnoff to have to wade through 30 or 40 posts of tech support.
Typical Browns fan reply…
I don’t even know what that’s supposed to mean.
So anyway, repairing is overpowered. You can outdo incoming damage from multiple sources, and we discovered that the passengers seat of the 6 man helicopter allows users to repair in flight, which is ridiculous. You get hit by a missile and within 3 or 4 seconds you’re back up to full health. We had a round hovering over the mcom stations with helicopter loaded with 6 men and the helicopter was almost immortal. Someone finally flew a jet into us at 600 mph to kill us.
The passengers are still vulnerable though - you can shoot out the gunners or the pilot or the passengers, which is funny. Torus got killed 5 or 6 times while the helicopter itself was just fine.
The infrared/night vision sights are massively overpowered, possibly in a game breaking way. It lets you pick up targets so quickly it’s ridiculous. And it isn’t weighed down with a lot of downsides - the field of view is narrow, that’s about it. It works fine in daylight when it should be utterly useless. When the game is out a bit longer, and more people unlock that sight, I’m worried that the game will change for the worse.
I wonder how long a squad would last defensively if they’re made up of a medic, a support guy on the mortar, and two support prone, bipod with the nvg sights.
Two new shortish videos:
Squad defends flag in a BMP-2 against an infantry swarm
Good, because when viewed through the eyes of sobriety…I don’t either.
They’d last a little more than the time it took for the medic to got killed. That’s why you’d want two medics. That’s much more difficult to stop.
The mortar is not generally that effective (although in some situations like anti-tank or entrenched defense it can be quite useful). I get more kills per minute on my MG.
I can only imagine how bad it’s going to get when most people have thermal sights on the tank.
Any idea why the top rank achievable is Colonel? Usually these games let you go up to the 5 star Generals.
So, is ANYONE playing this on Xbox? I’m picking up a copy today, and I have a graphics question…
Realism maybe. There aren’t many Generals running around sniping people on the front lines.
Not many colonels either.
I think they may be reserving the higher ranks (and associated weapons and perks) for an expansion pack.
Tell me about it, I can’t count how many times you caught me with that mortar yesterday and the day before!
The mortar is a really badly designed weapon. It’s boring to play and boring to die to.
Previous BF games had an interesting mechanic at least where you’d have to work in tandem with a spotter up front to guide your rounds in to a target, but now you just click where you want it to go on a map. Easy to rack up a good kill ratio, but boring as fuck - which is exactly the opposite of good weapon design in FPS games.
