Wait a minute, wasn’t that Sharon the one that was shown to the hostage-holders in the nightclub in the episode where Lee was shot? She was pretty dead then, autopsy incision and all.
You just made me spit out my coffee, drat you.
Here’s how i think the Sharons stack up (mmm… stack of Sharons
)
Sharon 1.0; frakkin’ the Chief on Galactica, blows out Galactica’s water tanks, begins to wonder about her obsession with grilled bread products, then tries to commit suicide and fails, Adama talks her into a covert mission to blow up a BaseStar, she accepts, while on the BoomerStar, the BBB download the latest system upgrades and service packs to her, which activate her Cylon programming, she shoots Adama twice, point blank then is later shot by Cally, Sharon 1.0’s body is autopsied and used in the failed attempt to defuse the hostage crisis in Season 2.5, Sharon’s conciousness resurrects on Caprica during the rebuilding effort and helps Six change the Meatbag’s strategy on how to deal with the Humans from “Kill All Humans” to “Why can’t we all just get along?”, this ressurected Sharon is on New Caprica in the occupation forces
Sharon 2.0; a different Sharon released on Caprica, with the sole purpose of getting Helo to fall in love with her and create a Pop-Tart with her, this Sharon is the one that was detained in Galactica’s brig and was so helpful to the Colonial forces, this Sharon supposedly can resist her Toaster programming (or so she claims) and has helped the Fleet on numerous occasions, was re-ntegrated into the Galactica crew in this episode and is helping lead the planetary assault/rescue mission because Centurions think all Meatbags look alike and she can get past the Toaster defenses easier than a Human can
That wasn’t a dog. That was a daggit.
Hah, I completely agree, right up to the “…you can’t be serious, they didn’t have a single pilot betterthan/superior to HER?!” moment when it became apparent she was leading the drill.
I’m pretty sure that she gets referred to that in the episode where she resurrects on Caprica in the first place - they make a big deal out of her being the first cylon celebrity, or somesuch.
“How can you trust me?”
“I can’t. That’s what trust is.”
Good stuff. Thing is, I don’t trust anyone or anything on this show. Which is what makes it cool, I guess.
The cylons are playing Starbuck with the kid and she’s (probably) playing them right back. I still don’t trust the Galactica Sharon, even if Adama does. Baltar seems to be playing everybody, including himself. He’s just crazy, right?
I am a little disturbed by the suicide bombers as good guys angle, but then – it’s always good to turn perspectives on their heads once in a while to look them up and down.
Am I the only one that chuckled at the:
{BANG!} Cap Six gets a third eye … Xenabot “She’ll be back.”
I nearly started lactating from excitement watching this episode, and I’m a guy.
There were so many morality twists, turns, dead-ends, cul-de-sacs, forks, out-bridges, road construction crews, pot holes, one way streets, whatever, that I could barely follow the implications of the situations. I’d hate to try to map the thing. There is absolutely nothing clean and unambiguous left at all.
I was worried for a bit last season when they started introducing the Cylon decision making process, how the audience could possibly comprehend the cold mechanical religion that could lead to a genocide, but they’ve been given a beautifully zealous religiosity that plays very well. I wouldn’t think that a computer would be able to rationalize away the execution of a couple hundred people because the final signature comes from a human hand, but it’s deliciously apparent now that the Cylons are not rational, they are not coldly logical, but they are instead swayed by passions that are all too familiar. They are, for all practical purposes, human, having attained the ability to deny their responsibility in pushing forward events.
And that is awesome, and hardly the only awesome thing from the episode. They rebooted the show and kept me squirming the entire time. I am in awe.
To all those cursing Ellen…we are aware that she’s doing Preacherbot for Saul’s sake, right?
Apart from that, how is Kaceybot a setup? I see two possibilities - either Leoben whacked her in the head and dropped her on the steps or Kaceybot was programmed to do that to herself.
What’s everyone else think?
The answer to the question is pretty relative, don’t you think? It depends what the guys in the masks are doing, IMO.
That’d be right after Xenabot took a (moral) shot at C6 over her being responsible for the first Cylon-on-Cylon violence in history, too.
I guess it goes to show…everyone knows about Cain killing Abel, but who committed the second-ever murder?
-Joe
Ellen’s may not be frakking Saul, but she’s frakking for him. She also looks like she’s going to betray the Resistance to keep him alive. When Saul finds this out he’ll likely kill her.
Or Kara’s steak? The only logical conclusion is that the Cylons brought animals to New Caprica :dubious: . The steak could be made in a bioreacter (hell it could even be Raider meat). The Cylons also probally brought medical supplies. Remember they want to win over the hearts of the people. New Caprica City is also looking better, more permanent buildings, etc. Anyone else expect Cavil to order the prisoners to start digging?
I was blown away by this show. I kept thinking, “This show has BALLS!”
Action hero Kara gets put in a mommy storyline. Perfect Lee Adama loses his confidence. The good guys resort to suicide bombings. Humans collaborating with the Cylons. Cylons wringing their hands over the morality of the situation. Nothing is clear and simple here.
When this series started, the civilization suddenly coping with a disastrous attack translated to the U.S. and the 9-11 attack. Now the remnants of that same civilization more closely resemble Iraq coping with U.S. occupation. In this new scenario, Americans = Cylon. That takes balls.
Two things I didn’t like.
- Kara should have killed the kid. How many series would show a main character cooly killing a little moppet to prove how much she hates Cylons? THAT would have taken some nerve. (But, like I said, nothing is simple on Galactica. Now we get to wonder what’s really going on with Kara.)
- Tigh talked way too freely in front of his wife. Even if he trusts her completely, it’s a foolish risk to let anyone know who’s in the resistance and what they’re planning. I think Tigh’s too cautious to do that kind of thing.
I was referring to a theory above that that whole conversation, including the map, was a red herring deliberately fed to the Cylons, since they knew Ellen ( :smack: ) was informing.
I have to say, though, she does seem less bankrupt than some people here are implying. I thought it was fantastic how we see Sol in detention, and then see Ellen screwing someone, and immediately think, “See, she is such a shallow, selfish bitch,” and then we find out she’s frakking a nasty old Cylon, and clearly not enjoying it, in an effort to free Sol. And even her betrayal is meant to keep him alive, though he wouldn’t thank her for it.
here’s another potential plot twist…
assuming Ellen has not hit menopause yet, imagine Saul’s reaction if he finds out that she’s going to be having a Pop-Tart on the way…
Loved the episode. I don’t think Starbuck has been broken, but I do question her sanity. Kasey is not her child, regardless of whether Starbuck’s egg was used in the test tube. Don’t think the injury was accidental. Either the child was pushed or the child was programmed.
Wondering about Rosilyn being shown in the preview. A flashback scene included to provoke speculation/misdirection? A previously unrevealed toaster? Jammer & Co. turn babyface at the last second?–kinda doubt that, because he allowed the dark haired gal to escape. Don’t think he would have done that if he intended to fire on the Cylons a short time later.
Very dark show. I like it. Also really like some of the cinematography. Did not like the fat suit. It didn’t look quite right, and called attention to itself, distracting from the scenes.
and whats with the whole “All You Need Is Love” pregnancy plotline thread, Kara clearly does not love Leo, yet they were able to create the StarBrat (I HATE kids in sci-fi shows, no quicker way to have a character jump the shark), maybe Love is NOT the “secret ingredient” (Professor Frink would be thrilled with this, m-hey! GLAVIN!)
That’s my rationalization too. But as was pointed out, they really should explain why the D’Anna model is out in the open. Wouldn’t it have been smart to keep her hidden among the humans?
Nah, I think it’s probably got to be in some way. We knew they messed with her ovaries and that had to come back and become a problem eventually.
It’s hard to believe Leoben would deliberately injure not only his own child, but the only successful human-Cylon hybrid known to be alive.
Roslyn isn’t President anymore, so I think Tigh is in charge. We know he makes bad decisions when he’s in charge.
I thought it looked like a sore or rash, possibly VD in nature, to emphasize how “dirty” she was being.
I wondered about that briefly, but during the first two seasons we really weren’t shown but a fraction of what’s inside all the ships in the fleet. They keep coming up with things like fresh grapes & peaches. Who knows, maybe it was someone’s seeing eye dog but the owner perished.
There’s also the question of where’d that steak come from Starbuck was eating? My guess is the Cylons are bringing things in from parts of the Colonial worlds that weren’t completely irradiated.
BTW, getting back to how the Centurions can’t tell a good meatbot from a bad meatbot, how do they tell? Is there some sort of IFF chip they carry that transmits to them? Facial recognition? What I’m wondering is, when good Boomer appeared & traded challenge/password with Anders, why did she duck & run when the Toasters opened fire on them? Moore made a point of telling us they can’t tell the difference, and that would be a valuable asset with good Boomer on their side. So, why didn’t good Boomer simply stand up and say “hey guys, it’s me! Fellow Cylon. Stop firing, I’ve got this covered.” Unless she’s not the good Boomer and the Toasters were firing at her as part of the plan to make her infiltration more convincing. More & more I’m thinking that’s a bad Boomer, she failed the challenge/password, and Anders knows.
IF she’d failed the challenge, Anders would not have exposed himself and his troops, or he’d have opened fire. He would not be the only member of the resistance present that knew the password. My guess would be that the whole party knew it, or at the very least, the second in command would know it.
Nobody kills Callie, ya hear me? NOBODY.
Ah, but this could all be part of Tigh’s plan. Plant a specific, but fake challenge/password with Ellen. If a Boomer shows up and uses that specific wrong password, then play along, and lead her as far away from the real landing area as possible.
Of course he’d endanger his troops. Some of these guys are willing to strap bombs on themselves.
Also, if he’d immediately opened fire on the bad Boomer, the gig is instantly up. Much better to play along & lead her away.
Of course, I over-think this show a lot.
Did anyone see Gaeta after he was running alongside the trucks trying to find Callie? Could he have been disguised as one of the NSP who cut Callie’s restraints and told her to run and not look back?
