Okey dokey, less than 24 hours to go now…
So, is Kara the 12th Cylon or is it Adama? Discuss.
Oh, and please spoiler tag actual spoilers for this episode until 11pm tomorrow night. Pure speculation/fanwank need not be spoilered.

Can’t be Adama. He’s had two kids.
Unlike Chief Tyrol and Athena right?
Of course it’s Starbuck. We saw her explode obviously.
No, we saw her Viper explode. She could have ejected and been picked up by a Cylon Heavy Raider which may, or may not, have actually existed. Remember, we saw her hand on the eject lever. And if she was picked up, she’s almost certainly not a cylon, no matter what else she is - since Cylons can download into new bodies, why would they bother retrieving any particular Starbuck-body?
I’m still putting my money on President Roslin…
(No spoilers )
I still don’t understand how the Cylons could have known to pick these random-ass people as models for an entire line of a limited (only 12!) run. How the hell would they have known that Boomer, Tighe, etc. would all survive the initial holocaust? Why choose so many on the same ship?
Has this been explained?
No. Starbuck is… something else.
I don’t know what she is. But I’m absolutely sure that there are more forces active in the Galactica universe than just the Colonials and the Cylons. They’re the ones behind Starbucks’s resurrection, they’re the ones who are behind the Six in Baltar’s head, and they’re the ones who know the way to Earth.
Remember, all this has happened before, and all this shall happen again.
The 12 models aren’t based on real people are they? I thought that the big reveal at the end of last season wast that Tigh, Tyrol etc had been deep cover cylons all along.
Now, I grant you, it was really quite amazingly lucky that they had these super deep cover cylons in place on the one battlestar (ok 2 with Pegasus) that survived the war. Unless of course EVERY battelstar had a Tigh, Tyrol etc, which would seem to be a stretch.
I just turn off my BS detector and enjoy the show
It could also be that those cylons are working against the other seven. That they engineered the survival of the Galactica because they knew the war was coming and wanted some small sliver of humanity to survive.
The Cylons *didn’t * pick them. Remember, the Cylons don’t know who the Final Five are.
I think the idea is that a big thing was made of Agathon/Boomer’skid being the very first human cylon cross, so anyone who has a kid older than that baby is off the hook for cylonhood. Chief Tyrol’s kid with Callie is younger so he was OK to be outed as a Cylon from that perspective, Admiral Adama, not so much.
Someone picked them (their physical characteristics I mean), after all if they’re Cylons they were made in a lab somewhere. We don’t know enough about the genesis of the new style Cylons to know what is going on. Are we supposed to think that old style Centurions made them, or is something else going on?
I think it has something to do with the reason the humans left Kobol 2000 years ago. What, I don’t know yet.
I think when it came time to pick the Final Five, RM just wrote down the names of every character and then pulled five out of a hat. The selection is just so random. Tighe? I can almost see RM pulling Tighe’s name out and thinking “oh shit, how am I gonna make that work?”
Keep in mind that there were “gods” 2000 years ago, and they seemed to have directly interacted with humanity back then.
So, there’s some super race or something floating around out there. Whatever it is, I’m betting Kara is either one of them (latently?) or she’s their representative, avatar, or something.

I’m trying to decide if I like that or not. It’s better than anything I’ve thought of.
2 of the 4 weren’t even on Galactica when the war(genocide) commenced. As I understand it the survival of Galactica was purely based on their control systems being so antiquated they weren’t affected by the Cylon computer virus.
Which makes it the perfect place for deep cover cylons to hang out & not get destroyed. The cylons have a plan, after all…they keep telling us in the opening credits.
As for Anders, he was on Caprica getting chased by toasters. Many of his friends got killed, but not him. Maybe the bullet-heads, on some level, couldn’t kill him. Also, this is a show that uses themes of destiny. The final five were destined to be together in the fleet. Whatever they come up with, I’m sure it’ll be interesting. I just hope it won’t suck.
Today, I look forward to watching. Anyone gonna try to watch it early on Sci-fi’s site? I think it’ll be up streaming in a few hours. I won’t. I like my BSG in HD big screen glory.
And both of those who were on the Galactica, were brought there by Bill Adama. Hmm.
