Pity me, it’ll be April 15th (I think) before it hits Sky One.
Their computers aren’t networked with other systems. The best Trekian excuse I can come up with from the description is that the newer ships used some wi-fi for their systems to communicate and the Cylons took advantage of that to hack into their systems.
What I want to know is why didn’t the final cylon hear the music and compelled to the old gym like the others that were on board galactica? Either they weren’t on the ship (Roslyn?) or not in the area (Starbuck?).
[thinking out loud]
But why would they have taken out Starbucks ovary if she was a cylon? Because they don’t know who the final five are, hence Tigh’s eye. Maybe they discovered that she was a cylon, and that’s why they hadn’t hooked her up to a baby machine, unless it was all just preparation to get her hooked up[/thinking out loud]
Umm…this is totally obvious. I mean, 100% glaringly obvious on the show.
The newer ships don’t need wi-fi, they can use WIRES. Or maybe they do use wireless. Why does it matter?

I wonder when they’ll address this since it seems like Hera and Nick could be Adam & Eve of a new species.
I think she’s the 13th Cylon…previously did not exist until they killed her and cloned her using DNA recovered from her vehicle. Her personality and most of her memories will be intact from her captivity on either Caprica or New Caprica where they downloaded them somehow. The Cylons goal is to now fully cross-breed and hybridize with the humans and they now realize they need something (possibly diverse genes) to evolve into them, which seems to be their goal.
Just my speculation. I don’t think Adama is a Cylon. The 12th has to be Baltar or perhaps the President.
Well, the Final Four seem to have been people working against the other Cylons - so I’m going to guess it’s someone who has been fighting them. Baltar is out, IMO.
I’m going Starbuck or Roslin.
-Joe
Regarding the last Cylon yet to be revealed, Ron Moore is on record in some interview somewhere as saying that it isn’t going to be one of the “major” characters. So it’s not Starbuck, Roslin, Apollo, Baltar, etc.
Now, of course, the fans are arguing about what makes a character “major.”
“Yes, the final Cylon is … Phelan!”
“Wow! … Wait, who?”
“Phelan. You know, that scary criminal guy running the child-prostitution ring.”
“Uh … oh, right. Yeah, I remember him.”
“Good. Anyway, it’s him.”
“Wait, didn’t Apollo shoot him? Isn’t he, y’know, like dead and stuff?”
“Um. Yeah. Shame about that, really.”
“Well, now what are we going to do?”
“Better go see if Admiral Adama has some shoe polish.”
waitaminnit! Baltar was in prison and wouldn’t have been able to go to the old gym. also: it makes sense in a way to have 13 cylons. There were 13 colonies, one left and was different. Starbuck would be the different one.
Actually, the Final Four were the leaders of the anti-Cylon resistance on New Caprica*. That can’t be a coincidence. I’m positive that whoever’s “operating” them, it isn’t the Cylons we know.
*Incidentially,
The only only other major Resistance figures were Roslin, who’s too obvious, and Felix Gaeta. How does Gaeta look as the Fifth? He’s not a “major” character, but he’s always been around, and I’ve always suspected there was more to his story than we’ve seen so far.
But when they do network to calculate a long jump quickly and the Cylons hack in, they are networked with cables. Great big, honking #10 cables.
And the damn music. The Watchtower.
Why the hell wasn’t it Crossroad Blues “Save old Tighe, If you please.”
or better yet, Me and the Devil Blues?
Something by Kylie Minogue would have been funny. Or maybe the Benny Hill theme.
Tori was part of that? I didn’t remember that.
-Joe
Remember her barking orders - concerning Hera and her adoptive mother - during the evacuation? She seemed to be the organizational mind behind the Resistance.
I’m still thinking Starbuck is the original hybrid, and daddy is gonna show up, Dirk Benedict or not. Daddy could be the 12th. We don’t know much about him, but he was an artsy type, Starbuck got her artsy side from him, and she was drawing nebulas when she was still a kid.
Tom Zarek is my other pick. He not only resisted the Cylon occupation, but prior to that he was all about destroying the established order and rebuilding things.
That’s a good insight. I like the idea of there being a Cylon split in terms of agenda, or an over-riding party driving the Cylon/human interaction. It would fit well with the experiences of Baltar/Caprica-Six, who somehow are different and “influenced”. And, there’s always been the concept of a pre-conceived fate or destiny “this has happened before, and will happen again”.
I started watching BSG a few weeks ago, and had intended to catch up before tonight, but didn’t make it. I watched the S2 finale (settling on New Crapica) last night. Hopefully I can be all caught up by next weekend and join in the fun with you guys.
The episode is playing live right now on Scifi.com. I’m not gonna watch.
If you want a really fast talking somewhat snarky catch-up on everything that’s happened so far, watch What the Frak is Going On? also on the Scifi site.
Maybe someone posted this (I can’t read the thread yet) but you can watch the premeire RIGHT FRAKING NOW at scifi.com.
Also, I hate you all.
There was some discussion in the past as to whether it was all planned or not. I am on the side of “they made stuff up as they went along.” In the final season, will it all dovetail together in a marvelous climax, or did Moore and his minions require this much time to patchwork everything together and create explanations?
