I don’t know, I kind of liked it. Although Badger’s constantly changing accent (from barely there to “lots of planets have a North” to Irish leprechaun) was a bit irritating, and we did have to subtitle him about halfway through.
I thought for sure he was going to end up being blind, in a hamhanded “justice is blind” metaphor. So glad I was wrong about that. He’s not blind, just pretentious.
I liked that people were upset over losing Starbuck, and if they dare cheapen that with some miraculous comeback, I will be so very pissed. *Farscape *managed to pull it off, I don’t think BSG can.
I really don’t think Starbuck is coming back in any physical sense. They may let her do the “invisible friend” thing and have imaginary conversations with Adama, they may do a flashback scene, or they may do something with her in the rumored movie if it is set before she died, but I think she’s done as a living entity.
I’m not gonna be in mah bunk, but day-um! What a visual! Can we throw that cute li’l Gaeta in there, too?
I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who was left with a big “WTF?” after this episode.
I will bet you one dollar that we will see Starbuck again. They should get Joss Whedon to write it - he at least understands that if you pull resurrections out of your ass, you have to work for them.
I’m not saying it’s impossible, but I’d be surprised if this were an actual working factory. Can you imagine the look on the floor manager’s face when the production crew asks if they can detach the conveyer belt and make it buckle, jump, and shake? (“Uh, you want to do what again?”)
Still speculating about the Robolawyer. He claims to have known and worked with Lee’s grandfather, but he looks too young for that…appears to be about the same age as Lee.
RDM either ignored the advice of, or has no legal advisor. No way a Judge sits on a case where his son is one of the lawyers.
They really shoulda called the cat Pixel, and had it slip through a wall.
Woke myself out of a sound sleep last night with the realization of why Lampchop the Lawyer was so damn annoying that I wanted to fork him in the eye.
He’s doing that David Caruso thing with the Sunglasses of Justice:
sunglasses come off :: pithy phrase:: sunglasses back on ::notice something:: peer over sunglasses ::comment:: push sunglasses back on ::quip::
GRRRR!!! Hate! Die, Lampchop, Die! *
My WAG was that he was one of those scum whom Lee’s grandfather had defended. Not that he was a lawyer who’d worked with Lee’s grandfather. Because his lawyering? sucked.
That’s kind of to my point. The actor was using those sunglasses as a crutch to convey information to the audience. David Caruso does the same thing. The fact that it serves a purpose for the actor makes it no less annoying.
Also, if we managed to figure that out in his ~30 minutes of airtime, how easy will it be for opposing counsel to figure out the same thing? “Hmm… sunglasses still on: he’s lying. Oop… sunglasses off: he’s telling the truth.”
Of course, if Lampchop follows the same “logic” he was trying on Six, the tribunal will last all of 5 minutes before Adama has Baltar loaded up into a torpedo tube. I mean, really, you could sit there and see what Tricia Helfer was thinking about that dialog:
Lampchop: “This… chewed pen… is Baltar’s only means of communication. Which I have taken from him. Because he loves you.”
Tricia Helfer: WTF?
Lampchop: " That gnaw mark, there, is a bicuspid – it means he’s thinking of you."
Tricia Helfer: Yo, Ron! Sign me up for what Katee got!
Does anybody have any explanation, no matter how farfetched or forced, that explains the sunglasses on a battleship? I’m trying to suspend my disbelief here, but I am only seeing scenes that would play out at any job I’ve worked at - “What’s up with the sunglasses? The fluorescents too bright for you in here?” “You been smoking doobies out back?” “Hey, it’s the rock star! C’mon, Feather, sing something for us!”
My guess is that they hide his eyes, making it easier for him to lie. Also, since he's a klepto, he can look around the room for things to steal without people noticing.
