The twelve skinjob models are supposed to embody human archetypes. So it is no surprise that Eights are loving and loyal, or that Ones are cynical. That is how they were made.

Which model represents the “sexually adventurous co-ed away from home for the first time?” The Sixes?

But wouldn’t they have noticed the other blue-green planet with clouds across the street?
[/QUOTE]
It’s not necessarily “across the street.” If they are on opposite sides of the sun, Earth could be as much as 401 million km (or about 2.6 au) from Mars.

I was just referencing that old Bugs Bunny cartoon with Marvin the Martin. Sorry, I should have included a

Which is across the street for people who can travel dozens if not hundred of light years in an instant.

I assume that people on Galactica take shits, too. But I’ve never seen them.

Don’t be silly - they take sharts.
Seriously though, what an awesome episode. I’m going to be doing a little dance of impatience and excitement until they start up again. I agree, getting them to Earth now was brilliant. And Tigh is THE MAN, even if he’s not technically a man. Michael Hogan always does such a fantastic job. The whole revelation to Adama was perfectly done. Olmos really didn’t hold anything back, it was so raw. (Also, props to Jamie Bamber for staying in character when EJO drooled on him.)
The current seven Cylons have lost their “resurrection” capabilities, something that required a honking big ship and a fleet of medium big ships.
The other four (plus one) learned the hard way that they are Cylons, but not because of any machinations of the seven. Also, they age. And they appear fully human, as the previous Cylon-spotter test did not spot them.
What if the five have the ability to reincarnate, as opposed to resurrect? It would explain their loss of self-knowledge, their aging, and their humanity. What if the reason the original 12 Cylons split was because they had a choice - resurrection or reincarnation? What if seven of the twelve felt that reincarnation made them too human?
Come on, I can’t be the only one that thought that.
My personal theory is that what we are seeing is the remains of the Atlantis civilization.
There are still humans left somewhere on earth, and after the final battle the survivors of the Galactica fleet and the remaining skinjobs will disperse and begin interbreeding with the locals, taking their myths and religions with them. The people following the colonial religion end up in Greece, the people following the Cylon monotheism end up in the Middle East.

Innnteresting theory!!
As several people have said, it’s going to be a loooong summer of speculation.

If our heroes come across a cave featuring two dead bodies with pockets full of black and white rocks, I’m gonna be pissed.
