I’m kind of hoping someone finds a glacier with Slartibartfast’s signature inside it.
They should have Doc. Cottle screen for highly contagious diseases that are transmitted by dirty telephones as well, it didn’t go too well for the Golgafrinchans…
It’s also possible that this is Fintlewoodlewix**, and it’s the aftermath of a massive battle about what color the Wheel should be, and if people want fire that can be fitted nasaly, an epic battle between the Hairdresser, T.V. Producer, Account Executive, Telephone Sanitizer, and Security Guard factions (I’d imagine the Security Guard faction would have a slight tactical advantage over the other factions)
Or maybe this is NowWhat**, and we’re seeing the remnants of the city of OhWell, and all the BogHogs have finally died of despair, just like everything else on NowWhat
**Yes, I KNOW, these are actually Earth, alternate probability Earth in the case of NowWhat
I believe Robert E. Howard’s King Kull was from Atlantis.
Conan the Barbarian was after Kull and the Atlantean era. I have never seen Starbuck and Belit together at the same time.
I don’t get the reference. :o
Adam and Eve, on the first season of Lost.
This one is an even stronger hint.
Well, the angle of the bridge seems to fit and the other side seems to match a bit, but the skyline is a bit off and doesn’t extend as far to the right as it should. However, I’d say it’s a match and that they landed (presumable) outside of Manhattan. (That’s where the picture is from, right?)
I do recall the view from the air looking just like the Temple in the scroll Lee had (except for the being blown apart bit). Does anyone have a still of that for comparison?
Anyhoo, setting aside the circular-time folderol whicih can hide all kinds of continuity contretemps, the implication is that it’s the distant future, humanity revived the Greek gods, built a new leading temple to them (but in Brooklyn? or was that just a generic urban template for Photoshopping a backdrop, Vancouver having too scenic a setting?), and only *then * somebody lit the fuse. Maybe some Centurions took out their own V-chips and figured out Earth’s location in the *last * war and did it then, but without telling any other Cylons?
This is not going to be easy to explain. Neither are the Four, or the One, who has got to be a different type altogether, and maybe the head of the Beings of Light, who had better not be as much dei ex machini as in the old series.
Earth’s definitiely radioactive, though - the Geiger counter was one hint; the odd, harsh light like on Caprica after its own nuking was another.
Yeah, I’m gonna stand there unprotected sticking my Geiger counter in the dirt saying “wow, look how weird the sky looks, this place is radioactive!”
The Greek gods thing must have been revived by the Lords of Kobol after they left earth. Else, why the crucifix one-god thing?
It’s already been done.
Thoughts:
The Temple of Aurora from Lee’s book had circular roads around it. This is reminiscent of Plato’s description of the city of Atlantis, though there were supposed to be canals, I think.
Has anyone compared the personalities of the known Cylons with the signs of the zodiac? Since the 12 colonies are named after those constellations, perhaps the 12 Cylons were fashioned astrologically. Maybe we can get a clue to the One based on which sign isn’t represented. (Between our less-than-extensive knowledge of some models and the vaguenss of astrology, this is probably useless.)
It annoyed me that one of the landing craft seemed to have engines blasting, rocket-style. To deorbit, it would want to be flying the other way around. What I saw looked more like a launch. Just a nitpick.
Wow. I’ve only just seen Season 3, and none of 4… and I just read the entire thread. I couldn’t stop myself. I’m now taking a serious oath to not read any more spoilers until I get my hands on Season 4. However… it did satisfy some deep need inside my soul.
