Battlestar Galactica Finale Thread

Remember, it’s on an hour early tonight and runs for 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Want to start listing questions we still have?

  1. What is Starbuck

  2. What’s the Opera House mean?

  3. Who/What are the head beings that appear to Baltar and Caprica Six(the people they see and talk too)?

Let’s enjoy this night.

Just listing questions, not trying to answer? Fair enough, gotta start somewhere.

What does “Watchtower” signify?
How’d Kara get the new Viper? How’d her body get to Earth?
How did us Earthers get to be Cylons?
What is Hera’s importance?
Will the fleet find a new home planet?

How did us Earthers get to be Cylons?

On Kobol, a group of humans discovered/created resurrection technology. This group, the 13th tribe, stopped procreating viviparously, and sustained themselves via resurrection. During the exodus from Kobol, the 13th tribe headed to Earth. At this point, these humans were already skinjobs. They eventually rediscovered sexual reproduction and “forgot” resurrection, only for the Final Five to rediscover it very shortly before the apocalypse on Earth.

At least, that’s what I remember of the exposition by the Final Five.

I’ll lie back, and think of England.

That’s what Sam said, yes- but, okay, the questions then would be:

  • How come Earth has all these humanoid fossils?
  • Why don’t any of us know anything about this non-Earth origin of ours, or that we ever had resurrection technology?
  • When are we going to convert back to worship of the Greek gods and build a temple to them on Brooklyn Heights?

Charles Darwin was a Cylon.

The Earth in the BSG universe is not our dimension/timeline, despite the apparent presence of someone channeling Dylan. The Greek nomenclature and pantheon is just a ‘coincidence’ in BSG. Do you mean the humanoid fossils shown in 4.10/11? Those are the remains of the skinjobs.

Don’t forget, if you want to watch the entire finale, it starts at 8:00, re-airing the first hour from last week.

Ronald Moore really didn’t design that as Act 1 or a stand alone episode. He intended it to be watched straight through.

Also, I believe that the finale is scheduled to run ten minutes or so past the second hour – for those of you recording, beware.

EDIT: removed, bad joke, spoiler for another show. Sorry.

Flying motorcycles would be cool.

I would be tempted to subscribe to the following theory: that HeadSix, HeadBaltar, Adama’sDeadWife, PianoMan, etc. are subroutines built into everyone (everyone’s got Cylon ancestors if you go back far enough), except for one thing…

Remember the episode where a six showed up and tried to frame Baltar of collaborating with the Cylons (in a way other than what he actually did)? All the time she was aboard Galactica, HeadSix either wouldn’t or couldn’t appear to Baltar. Then she vanishes- as in two marines tailing her lose sight of her around an corner for a few seconds, and when they catch up there’s only an empty corridor. Never found, no record of how she could have gotten off the ship.

So it does look like something with woo-woo powers is out there. Something transported Kara’s corpse and wrecked Viper to Earth.

Re. Opera House: We’ve seen how Cylons can picture the world the way they want; maybe the opera house is just a virtual setting- maybe it’s how Hera sees the Colony.

What happened to Cervaise? This is the second BSG thread in a row he’s missed (& the last ever).

P.S. It looks like we’ll be getting a sneak preview of Caprica tonight.

Actual start time depends on your TV source. For me Part 2 starts at 6:00pm PDT and ends at 8:11pm. Yes, be sure your DVR records past the normal end time!

Toward the end of pt.1, Starbuck says “Based on the coordinates we got from Sam…”

So, whoever thought that Sam wasn’t the one to tell them where the Colony was last week, there’s the answer.

On your scorecard, next to “Puking Adama”, mark a 1.

Whoa, Orion

Still liking the flashback. Totally realized he was a former student before he 'fessed up. Not so much liking the puking Adama, though.

Admiral Hoshi and President Lamkin.

Hoshi? Lampkin?? Cripes, the fleet is doomed.

ooh, Centurions! … wonder if we’ll see Leoben.
