Battlestar Galactica 4.15 - "The Oath" (spoiler warning)

Hot Dog’s name is Brendan Costanza. Interesting name.

He was trained by Starbuck and given his pilot’s wings by Apollo, so he probably isn’t likely to go against the Old Man.

Just a further demonstration of how well-acted this mutiny has been. They don’t need an overwhelming number of mutineers, they just need to have them in the right places at the right times.

The fact that Costanza (Starbuck: CantStandYa!) is out there shows that they couldn’t get 100% of what they needed.

That, and the Old Man is his dad.

So he can’t be in on the mutiny because that’d probably lead to him getting killed off… and they won’t kill of EJO’s son, who is workin’ the nepotism.

Really, Hot Dog is about the safest character in the whole damn cast right now.

Starbuck: Let him go
Idiot: Frack you
Starbuck: Bang!!!

Best scene ever.

Adama: Are you alright?
Tigh: I’ll live, him?

That was another good one. But the best thing of the episode is Gaeta. He started as a boy scout and now he is just a bitter bastard.

I actually would debate that with you. I don’t think he’s necessarily “safe” as this is the final season and since they seem to be raising the level of his character - it would only make sense that he would die a heroic (and memorable) death - hence why they are getting him more invested in the kid and more out there - they will do something like have him die saving his kid or something.

Has any central character not gone through some sort of emotional/mental metamorphosis? The only one that comes to mind is the doctor. He’s steadily been a chain-smoking snark.

Baltar’s Virtual Six? Granted it’s been some time since we’ve seen her.

Apollo is still a clueless goof ball who has problems dealing with his Father.

Well, I was being a bit tongue-in-cheek there, but I do think he is as safe as any of the secondary characters is going to get.

I don’t think we’ll see Adama or Tigh or Apollo or Starbuck or Baltar go missing early from the last few episodes. Roslin maybe.

But the rest are in the process of being weeded out, for sure. And I think Hotdog is about the last on that list for being weeded out.

Almost forgot about her; let’s see, Baltar has a Virtual Six in his head; the resurrected Caprica Six had a virtual Baltar, and Baltar had his own virtual Baltar that one time.

Wouldn’t it be something if they concluded the series without explaining that? Why, we’d laugh and laugh!

See my continuing posts about Ron Moore’s nostrils and melted DVDs.

I’m pretty sure it won’t be explained as anything. At one point, Moore said head six was nothing more than Baltar’s warped brain. Same for all the other visions, I’m guessing.

Hasn’t she provided him with key information that he would not otherwise have known?

To a point…but in general we’ve also seen that Baltar has an incredibly powerful deductive mind. It’s likely his subconscious was just informing him of things his conscious mind hadn’t realized yet.

-Joe

And more importantly, didn’t HeadSix and HeadBaltar figure prominently in Roslin’s vision about Hera and the opera house?

I agree. This is a just-plausible, if not-especially-satisfying, rationalization of the hallucinated Six.

In other words, Baltar’s intuition actually is female.

His intuition is a hot Cylon he can have sex with whenever he wants, yes.

Wonder what Gaeta would have been like if a hot intuitive six was in his head telling him the stuff about the 8 he was in denial about . . . or maybe he would have preferred Simon?

I think Gaeta would have had a Baltar in his head. We weren’t shown that of course.
