Battlestar Galactica 4.17 - "No Exit" (spoilers)

Well…Okay.

So what are the implications for the final 5/6 episodes?

Thanks – this is the part I missed, I got the rest of it.

Question: Why didn’t the hybrid on the rebel baseship announce when Ellen rez’d? When Xenabot was unboxed, the hybrid made a huge deal out of it.

I’m guessing Ellen is responsible for the music that activated the others. May have also been involved in Starbuck’s…situation.

Where did that come from?

It came from speculation. It’s not in the episode.

Fine.

I liked that segue too!

As to Daniel, I’m thinking he somehow survived and was Starbuck’s father. The five could have been sneaky enough to hide a copy of him down on Caprica when they suspected Cavil was going all brother-killy. Ellen mentioned Daniel had been an artist, and Starbuck’s father was a musician. I don’t think they would have stuck that dialogue in there without a purpose. Or maybe I’m just hoping there’s something Cavil doesn’t know about.

What resurrection equipment do you mean? Anders said that they had a ship orbiting earth for their original resurrection. I’m guessing that equipment was later moved to the hub (or destroyed when they built the hub). In this episode, Ellen downloaded 18 months earlier and I’m assuming it was in the hub was then destroyed.

Did I hear correctly that the reason the final five thought they could get things to work out with the centurians is that the latter had found belief in the “one true god”? Yeah. That worked out well.

But the biggest question I’m pondering is why Cottle hasn’t removed the tongue from his nurse with no bedside manner.

Especially since, I think, that’s exactly what Cavil wanted to happen.

What part of “I’m guessing…” was unclear to you? :dubious:

Cylons don’t necessarily resurrect in the Hub – that’s what Resurrection Ships were for. And John could’ve had the system set to send Ellen to resurrect wherever he wanted her to, presumably. There were several establishing shots as to the fact that Ellen was on a Basestar.

The Colony is apparently where the Final Five had their lab to create the Significant Seven(/Eight), and where they developed resurrection technology into the Resurrection Hub. John was saying that this lab, on the Colony, was still around after the Hub got boomed up.

 Yeah, right, like Cottle is a sappy mass of gooey emo.

I speculate that the original resurrection ship that the five made is still near Earth–which would explain Starbuck II.

As for the resurrection equipment that Cavil was talking about; he stated it was on a colony that the humans don’t know about. I suspect this must be the planet where the Cylons were for the forty years between wars.

Yeah. Cavil did say “They know about the hub but they don’t know about the colony.” I’d forgotten that.

I like the idea that it’s near earth and explains Starbuck II! If Daniel was her father, she could be able to resurrect even as a half cylon.

The previous post, dingbat, where it was implied that it was explained in the episode.

I’m confused… If the cylons came back after 40 years with the human looking models, then what’s this whole bit about the Five being around on Earth 2000 years ago? Can someone briefly recap the history of the 13 colonies, cylons, earth, etc. as we know it after this show? I haven’t been able to keep it all straight.

As I understand it, the final five went from Nuked Earth to the Colonies. When they arrived, they found what we know as the first cylon war in progress. They convinced those cylons to stop the war in exchange for meatbag technology. The 5 made the 7(8) during the time after that war. John/Cavil rebelled, murdered the 5, and then inserted them in standby mode into the Colonies with false memories.

Or something like that.

3000 years ago: the Thirteen Tribes on Kobol have a falling-out. The Cylons – the 13th Tribe – leave, and discover Earth, which they settle. The other 12 Tribes settle the Colonies.

2000 years ago: the Cylons on Earth have forgotten resurrection tech in favor of procreation. The Final Five rediscover resurrection tech, just at the same time that the Earth Cylons have created (recreated?) Cylon Centurions. Because they’re treated poorly, these Centurions nuke Earth. The Final Five escape by resurrecting themselves in their ship, in orbit.

next 1960 years: the Final Five make their way to the Colonies, sublight, hoping to warn them not to repeat their mistakes.

40 years ago: too late; the Colonies have already repeated the mistake of the Earth Cylons, having created Cylon Centurions, treated them poorly, and almost got nuked as a result. The Final Five contact these Centurions – who believe in the One God, and are creating the Hybrids* – and convince them to end the Cylon War. In return, the Final Five create the Significant Seven(/Eight) for the Centurions.

next 40 years: John throws a tantrum, murders Number 7 (Daniel), kills the Final Five then edits their memories and resurrects them to have them believe they are humans on the Colonies, the new model Centurions are developed (and presumably inhibited by John), and John puts his Plan in motion to nuke the Colonies and kill all humans… just to punish the Final Five for having created him.

Somewhere in there, something else is going on, that seems to be causing the visions of the Opera House, the nova on the Algae Planet (and D’Anna’s visions of the Opera House and the Final Five there), the rebirth of Starbuck in her spooky new Viper, and possibly the activation of the Final Five. Maybe Baltar’s Six-in-his-head is part of this, or maybe he’s just frackin’ nuts.

  • this is the stuff revealed in “Razor”, with the First Hybrid and the older model Centurions.

This is silly, and I don’t expect it to be the case, but I just have to throw it out there…

What if, when Cavil corrupted Daniel’s genetic code, that it turned Daniel into a…

a girl…

Thus Kara Thrace?

Yes, I know, huge stretch. And creepy.

I believe the current fan theory being wanked far and wide across the internet is that Daniel, the “sensitive artist” model is somehow Starbuck’s father – the musician artist (= Phillip Glass).

Thus, Starbuck is actually a hybrid, and therefore can resurrect, thus neatly explaining all the discrepancies that are making their poor heads ache, while leaving completely unexplained who resurrected her and what was the deal with her spooky Viper and its weird wireless reception.
