It’s not the penultimate episode. There are three hours of the show left.
Did anyone else notice Sam babbling, “there’s a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza…”? I’m pretty sure it wasn’t just random.
They certainly were. Coolness!
You know, I’ve realized that I have become increasingly annoyed at how Apollo has been written off to be a sideline character over this season. It was nice to see the old Apollo come back with his talk in the hall with Kara. However, they’ve really dropped the ball with that character – he’s had almost no interaction with his father, or with Laura, or with Kara, despite that they’re each going through hell and he has close ties to all of them.
Yes, he’s got a job elsewhere. But when had that ever stopped them from throwing a father-son scene in? He’s supposed to be a major character on the show… and I get the feeling we’re seeing a set-up for Lee gets left behind while everyone else goes and gets a piece of the action.
We’ve had far, far too much of that. We had too much “Adama is wrong and someone changes his mind”, more of it tonight.
For anyone that cares, my comments are available exclusively elsewhere on the net.
Will observe that the episode “number” seems apt for the Adama/Rosilyn scene.
Yupp! I noticed the old-style Raiders immediately. Coolness.
And really, Painting is mostly about preparation: Drop a huge cloth to cover the floor and other furnishings, Cleaning the walls with a damp cloth, Masking moldings and other areas, making sure the room is well ventilated, priming, and cutting-in the door jambs before using the roller. It’s really no wonder Adama got so frustrated.
I think Sam will blurt out a “JUMP” command as soon as Starbuck starts in with All Along the Watchtower. I was actually hoping he’d do that before they could unplug him.
So, they’re going to end the series by finding the old show?
Did anyone else think that when Starbuck slapped Baltar, she was being remarkably restrained? I expected she would slam him against the bulkhead at least.
It was fun to see the Cylon home world. I didn’t expect they’d show it. And I imagine we’ll see a lot of it in Galatica’s final blaze of glory.
A really blah episode for me. They could’ve just shown that last scene with Tigh and Adama because the only advancement of the plot was the decision to abandon ship. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m pretty tired of seeing the old man moping around in the last three episodes. Sure hope the finale lives up to expectations.
Poll: how many expect a satisfying non-contrived-seeming-coz-of-“they-have-a-plan” ending?
I’d like to see the frakking specs on the FTL drive that can jump that Colony. Was that Colony in space, or on a planet?
I liked the ep overall. It was lots of acting like I expected.
They reminded us Baltar is a scientist after all, but what lab does he have access to? Ah, who cares. Airlock him and his religious crap.
Did we need to hear Starbuck tinkling on the potty? It’s gritty scifi, but geez.
They didn’t know what to do with Apollo since the miniseries. I kinda wrote him off after season one.
Transferring the flag to the Basestar. Interesting. I still won’t be surprised to see Adama go down with the Galactica though. Roslin said he’d lose both his women if he didn’t make the move, but he is going to lose both his women. That’s a forgone conclusion. I was a little surprised Roslin didn’t kick off this ep.
Well, yes, but it is really a 3-hour finale.
Bear McCreary calls this the last one hour episode in his blog about it, which you can read below:
By the way, Bear also says that the episode we saw last night will be extended on the DVD, which should improve it a lot.
Well, yes, but I think of that as more like 3 more episodes, not just one. Not worth arguing about, though we can if you like.
I have this fear that we’re going to see Galactica and its captain on a suicide mission, going out in a blaze of glory to take out that Colony. However, we have no clue where the Colony is, do we? Is Sam Anders going to help with that? Hybrids seem to have some innate knowledge of where other Cylon ships are. Maybe that’s how it’s going to go?
There have to have been quite a few deleted scenes – the bit with the Quorum asking Lee what Gaius Baltar thought about it sort of implies that there was an entire backup storyline dropped.
I figure it’s because that song is an infinite loop…and we all know this has all happened before.
It’s because she secretly wanted him to announce her secret. She’s been troubled by it for a long time and never knew how to handle it. She must have known that Baltar would announce it to the world, drama whore that he is.
Also, the Galactica is “the Bucket” (as Pegasus was “the Beast”). And, you know, there’s a hole in the Bucket.
My point exactly.
