I really really liked this episode (been catching up on OnDemand), but was I the only one who was a little annoyed by the singing? Maybe I just don’t have enough poetry in my soul…
Maybe they can keep her alive until they’re in the hub, and then nail her in the forehead with a brick or something.
That would explain why ambrosia is that sickly bright green color. I’m guessing they use Mountain Dew as the prop for that.
But seriously, you can distill booze out of pretty much anything that has sugar in it. Guys in prison make booze in their garbage cans out of leftover food. Whatever fruits or grains you have laying around… or algae. I wonder how that would taste? No worse than cheap vodka, I bet. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
You mean, where there’s a will, there’s a beer.
Wasn’t Gaeta committing mutiny? ISTM that Anders was backing up the lawful captain of the ship, Starbuck, in her orders, and preventing Gaeta for executing a jump against Starbuck’s wishes. If anything, why aren’t Helo, Athena, Gaeta, et al, in the brig for their mutinous actions? I guess they decided that circumstances were so weird, it’s all a wash. I’m just making that up, I don’t know, because as you pointed out, it was never addressed.
Good point.
All I can say is that Athena better be in the brig in the next episode. Shooting an unarmed envoy should be a jailable offense. Maybe she can get the cell next to Caprica and realize she shot the wrong Six!
Athena, given her history, gets a bit nuts about the kid - understandably so. She might also view The Sixes as a homogeneous group, though her personal experience with Caprica Six might cause her to exempt Cap Six from any hostilities.
I’m irritated by the Magical FN FiveSeven, which can apparently vary its firepower. Adama eats a couple of rounds, center of mass, point-frakking-blank, and survives with some surgery.
Lieutenant Stumpy nee Gaeta gets his leg blown apart by a single shot from the same model. And yes, he was in mutiny mode, arguably, depending on how the now moot question of Captain Helo’s relief order pans out.
So I’m not convinced that Natalie Six is dead or doomed, given the arbitrary power of these sidearms.
And why aren’t there LAN type resurrection doohickeys on the basestars? All you’d need is a transceiver system and some boxes - add in some limited tanks-o-goo for new bodies, and you’re in business.
Hell, wouldn’t the Cylons know how to build these things?
I don’t know if this has been mentioned before, but are we due only a few more episodes with another 10 next year? Or are we getting the lot now?
Just to throw a twist in here
There are no rez ships nearby. Or are there? The Five (as an organised group of cylons) would have rez ships and also have sleepers onboard the Galactica. Who is to say those members of the traitor toasters aren’t rezzing unexpectedly on a ship which has been shadowing the humans for a while?
epguides.com only lists one more episode at the moment, which usually suggests there’s going to be a bit of a wait. Bah.
If this is true, then Athena is dumber than I thought she was. She just got through lecturing the other Eights about having individual identities and sticking up for what they believe in. But… she can’t distinguish one Six from another? The Six in Hera’s picture was obviously Caprica, with the red dress and platinum bob. You’d think Athena, of all people, would be able to understand how different those two versions of Six were, and save her ammo for the right one. Or… not shoot anyone, but try to get to the “truth of the opera house” via investigation, not murder.
Eh, I’m willing to buy it. Adama’s shots were actually lower in his ribcage/abdomen, so they missed his heart. He was transported to a military trauma center within minutes of his shooting, and still spent days/weeks in a coma.
Gaeta caught a round to his leg, which may have hit bone & splintered, chewing things up badly, got some morpha (and why the hell couldn’t they just call it morphine? I thought they were getting away from the centon/yaren bullshit of the original series) and a torniquet, then got to wait 16 hours for real medical care. It’s perfectly plausible that they had gotten him to the Galactica a lot sooner that he would have kept the leg.
DO not discount the possibility of infection.
Ander’s personal hygiene leaves something to be desired, and it is rumored he takes his cartridges out rolls them about in his palm like ball bearings.
Well, you’d expect a Cylon to excel at geometric logic.
White hot bullets tend to sterilize.
Seeing as how Starbuck had her freakout while looking at Six’s face and heard those words during Natalie’s “We need to die to live” speech, I thought the lack of a resurrection ship turned her into the dying leader right there. Her getting shot just reinforced it.

Gaeta’s shot looked like it was right in the knee to me. It’s very difficult to reconstruct the knee unless you have machined replacement parts. I’ve often lamented the lack of technical capacity in the fleet, but that’s where they’ve established the setting.
It was mid calf. It just looks like the knee because the leg bent when the bone shattered.
Just watched the recording of this last night. Favorite part of the episode: “You’re sleeping with him, aren’t you?” and “I don’t care if you have to spend all night on your knees begging, or just on your knees, but I want a name.”
Beautiful.
Roslyn had gone from a scary double-crossing Queen Bitch who rules with an iron airlock to a weepy, uncertain, and reeling character. I didn’t like it much. Oh, yes, she’s still there under that wig.
(I also think Gaeta got shot in the calf. Makes sense to me that they had to amputate. He had that tourniquet on for almost a full day by the time they got him to the infirmary. I only know basic first aid, but it seems to me that even without a wound you’d be having some issues after that.)
Also, after seeing the preview for the next episode, I’m convinced that:
Cap 6 is pregnant with Tighe’s baby, or maybe they just found evidence of rape. Rape seems unlikely, though, because 1) she seemed pretty willing from what they showed and 2) she also seemed like she could hand Tighe his ass on a plate. Cottle telling Adama he examined her and found a suprise? Tighe punching Adama in the face?
These last two episodes are much better than earlier episodes, that’s for sure. I’m interested again.
Well, as far as we know the Boomer model is the only model capable of not coming to a group consensus. Six described her model as defective or something didn’t she? As far as Athena is concerned all the other models of Cylons achieve consensus so all Six’s no matter how often they like to change their hair color are all out to steal her child.
Athena’s mistake, I think, is in her interpretation of the dream. Are the Six’s actually out to steal her child or save it? The Hybrid, Roslin, et. al. keep mentioning the Opera House but we really have no idea what this opera house means.
