bawitdaba cover used in Cain

I’m trying to track down a cover of Kid Rocks Bawitdaba I happened accross a while back.

There was a brief scene in one of the early episodes of the short lived Jimmy Smits tv show Cain that featured a speedboat racing across the screen to the
distinctive lyrics “Bawitdaba, da bang, da dang diggy diggy, diggy, said the boogie, said up jump the boogie” sung in a very distinct stacato version.

I’ve been googling around but can’t find who sang it or where I can hear this version of the song.

Anyone know what I’m refering to or how to track it down?

Much appreciated!

Gift Giver - Bawitdaba is the only cover of that song that I know but it’s from last year, not 2007.

I found that there a handful of other acts that have covered the song:

The Rock Heroes, who may also be known as Southern Rock Heroes, from 2012.

Music Box Mania from 2015.

I had to look up that show (it’s Cane, btw) and I just don’t know of any covers that date back to 2007-2008.

Ha! Well it’s definitely not the music box mania version… somehow that doesn’t pack the same punch.

Thanks, but still looking. Interestingly, in hunting down that version I found out that that riff was actually inspired by a similar riff in the Sugar Hill Gangs Rappers Delight.

Edit: I think I may have just found it. I remember it had a Caribean vibe to it. I ran the lyrics through google and found a similar search on allthelyrics.com from 2009.

I think the clip they used for that scene was from “Cobrastyle” by the teddybears. Stacato version of that riff with a Caribean vibe…

I dunno, but it might help a little (or not) if you got the name of the show right. It was Cane, not Cain, about sugarcane growers.

edit:I see Bo already mentions that, whoops
