That was a really good time. Nice to meet so many fine folks. We’ll have to do it again.
Agreed. I’ll PM you about that trail run up in Napa, be fun to join you and the hubby for a jog.
We had a great time! It was our first Dopefest, but it definitely won’t be the last. There was one part about the evening that troubled me, though:
Apparently, my 9-year-old son has *far *better pick-up skills that I ever did. He had not one, but two women fawning all over him. They even bought him food! Way to go, Kiddo!
Wait a minute, didn’t he like the fish and chips? Or, did he wrangle another order out of those two young women? (they seemed to genuinely happy to talk to him…he’s probably more of a gentleman than they’d likely meet in a SF pub!)
The kid had skills. I believe the ladies bought him some fries.
We did have fun last night! Much more fun that we had at the birthday party we went to this afternoon. Even Kiddo had more fun at the Dopefest than at his friend’s very chaotic, completely disorganized party.
I really enjoyed meeting everyone! Though I must say, I did spend most of my time talking with Troy McClure SF, Dunawake, and Harmonix. Oh, and a fair bit of time chatting with Valgard.
Wish I could have spent more time chatting with everyone there, but Kiddo was getting tired and his girlfriends had left, so we did as well.
Can’t wait for the next one!!!
Sorry I couldn’t make it. I was one of 42,000 at-least-mildly-entertained fans at the Chelsea vs. Club America soccer match at Stanford.
And, fellow bay area dopers, let me give you some advice: If you are ever going to attend an event at Stanford along with 42,000 people, GET THERE EARLY.

Hi everyone! It was enjoyable meeting all of you. I apologize for the late arrival. It was almost midnight, but the place was still full and the noise level still high. We should wear Straight Dope shirts or something. Or better yet, maybe put a recognizable centerpiece on the table. Like a model plane on a treadmill. I had to ask the bartender for the party that showed up at 6:30 and refused to leave.
Because of the noise level and my inability to remember names, I can’t remember who to thank for a great time. Sorry, but I can only recall descriptions. So, many thanks to the following for a fun evening:

Somehow, at the end of the night, another message board I’m on had a party at the Chieftain. All I can say is that I should’ve stuck with just the one.
Good to meet you all; I had a blast. And what they speak of kiddo is true. I was even a little bitter.
It was really great meeting everyone. I hope we can do it again soon. I’m horrible with names too and I didn’t get a chance to actually say more than a few words to some of the people, so that has to be remedied sometime soon. I know someone was taking pictures, hopefully we’ll get to see those soon so we can connect faces with names a little better.

That would be me. And since you arrived after sunset, I’m sure I was quite rambly. Oops.
And I too wish I had been able to chat with more folks more than I did. I guess I might as well toss this out here. Demo and I are planning a BBQ at our place. August 18th. If anyone in the Bay Area is interested in heading up our way, you are more than welcome to join us. It will definitely be quieter and easier to chat, and we’ll make sure you don’t leave hungry. 
I can email/PM directions and more info. Maybe I’ll start a new thread.
