As long as you pepper your speech will an acceptable number of "hella"s, nobody will be the wiser.
A friend of mine went to Boston to see the Giants play earlier this year. Apparently a bunch of Giants fans took over a bar, and their password was, “Hella Giants Fans.”
Santa Barbara’s in California?
Well I’ll be! Ya learn something new every day. You have three days to learn not to say “I came up here on the five”. Around here it’s “I 5”. Say it, “eye” “five”.
See ya.

Unless something changes, I’m a fairly solid NO at this point. My regrets.
Have fun everyone!
I may have to cancel as well
There is a high probability that my Saturday will be spent driving up to Humboldt and back to pick up a metric assload of beef. We’re buying half of a free-range steer from our friend/neighbor’s ranch, and it has apparently already been butchered.
Anyone know of a facility in the bay area who rents smaller cold-storage units to the public?
I had intended to find such an establishment prior to any meat changing hands, but things got a little accelerated the other day, when I got the unexpected “come get your half of a cow” call. One of the more unique phone calls I’ve ever received, I must say.
I probably won’t be there either.
A friend got me some show tickets last month and I forgot all about them. He asked me over the weekend, “You ready for the show this coming Saturday?” I went, “Uh, sure” and :smack: myself internally.
Sorry guys. I am available in the evening on Friday or Sunday, however. If any Dopers are arriving the day before or staying until the day after and want to have dinner or hang around the bar, just let me know.
I may stop by the Chieftain at 11pm. If anyone is still around, look out for the clueless-looking guy asking the bartender if he’s seen a group bringing in a goat and squid…
I’m sure we’ll be there until at least 11.
Not just any squid, I want to see one longer than a bus.
Great minds think alike: I was considering putting on my '98 World Series “SD” Jersey.
That’s awesome!!! We paid $153.26 after taxes, etc. for a room the Grand Hyatt in Union Square on Hotwire. Not as good as $93, but not as bad as it could be, given it’s good location. It’s walking distance to the Cheiftan and also walking distance to the birthday party we have to go to the next day. Works for me.
I can recommend a dozen or so hotels in the area for under $200, my husband and I have stayed all over the city. We’re usually there once or twice a month for a weekend or so and like to look for the more unique places; joie de vivre, Kimpton and Personality are our favorite hotel groups. But, I think we’re mostly done with hotel stays and have converted to apartments. Cheaper than hotels, much larger, kitchen/living room/dining room/patio/etc and parking is included. I love that we’re always in the heart of the neighborhoods we want to be in, we can cook, order food in, and just feel more relaxed and ‘at home.’ This trip we’ll be staying in a condo in Opera Plaza - $100 a night, 2 nights.
Check out VRBO and craigslist.
Looking forward to this weekend!
Weekday bump.
It seemed so far off for so long and now it’s, tomorrow! Yay!
Oh c’mon. Me and you can sit in a dark corner, drinking run 'n coke, and glaring at all the people who are actually having fun. Okay?
How many northern Californians does it take to change a lightbulb?
Hella.
-Great Dave, sending his regrets
What’s a lightbulb?
Oh, an antique CFL.
For you "been there"s. Any food reccommendations? Drinks?
I’m still on, pending any last minute chicken out. If mangeorge does (probably) show, be kind. He’s led a casually hermetic life for many years.
He plans to sit in a dark corner with I Love Me, Vol. I.
Peace,
mangeorge
You are referring to a Compact Fluorescent Lightbulb, right?
I can’t go - I’ll be seeing the new Harry Potter movie at the Metreon at 7.
Shame, too - I have to work in the city on Saturday anyway.
yep
Yep! One of the greatest inventions for those of us who don’t know how to change a light bulb. Those suckers last forever. And save money.
