Why does the “BBQ Pit” need three moderators? I mean, doesn’t anything go here? Isn’t it “no holds barred”, like a cage match in the WWF? {And no, that’s not the World Wildlife Federation, either! }
Maybe SO many “flames” are really “general questions”?
Well, first of all, there are holds barred. You’re still not allowed to make slurs (such as racial ephitets); and every once in a while, the abuse level does get so high there is a need to step in and break things up. It’s not an open-for-everything forum by any means, and because some people (not just yourself) feel it is, the mods tend to get called in more often than perhaps in Cafe Society.
Second of all, it’s the place for complaints and discussion of Moderator activity. Quite frankly, the other Mods have enough to do in running their forums without also having to go through the Pit to make sure that there’s no discussion of their actions. So it falls to us BBQ Pit Mods to keep track of what’s going on, and to put word out to any Mods who need to step forward to explain/defend their actions.
Feh, we really need to dispense of that notion. We occasionally get a few new types (some who are decidedly reptilian) who believe in the “anything goes” myth.
Of course. I agree with everything said here, but let’s not forget that some people would actually put this thread in the BBQ Pit, thus we need mods to monitor it.
