oops, an accidental asterisk, how embarrassing …
After that little tidbit, I’m glad I don’t listen to Top 40. But, you just KNOW that every DJ in the world is gonna force you to dance to it at every wedding, office party, etc, just like that freakin’ Mambo #5.

I think it sucks immensely and yet I love it. Kinda like those jack in the Crack Tacos, they are the lowest form of food detritus, and yet, I love them!
“It is now proved beyond doubt that smoking is one of the leading causes of statistics.”
Well, OK. I hate it. Been then again I hate most Top 40. I should fit in nicely here in the states, unfortunately.
It should fit in… Not I.
Of course, I like to think I don’t “fit in” anywhere.
Wow! You guys are right! That song really does suck!
Of course, I’m just taking your word for it. I didn’t actually listen to it. I’ll get around to it someday.

Thank you sooooo much for sharing that, Satan. It has now glommed onto my synapses like those yucky flying platlet things in the cavern/sand monster thing in the Star Wars movie. ::shrieks with disgust::
Okay, I’m music impaired. I like jazz, kick ass rock and roll but need classical like oxygen. (Gimme a break; it’s due to symphony field trips as a kid.)
That is just bad. And just for that I think SD’ers should treat you to equally abysmal offerings…
: :pinches nose:: Winchester Cathedral, you’re bringin’ me doowwwnnn… You want inane hits!? Slap Satan upside the head with bottom-scraping pop hits…
Grrrrr.

I was warned about “The Tellytubbies” (sp?) by a Brit TV fan MONTHS before they hit the States, and now this…thanks for the warning! Eek!
Listening to that clip just makes me all the more grateful that my radio dial is permanently fixed upon the Classical station…
Satan, brand new huh ? B.S. We’ve been playing it for a month, wasn’t aware we were so cutting edge. By the way guess what the #1 most requested song is at the station right now ? You got it : Blue. So yayyy! All of you now have something new to hate and moan about. Wouldn’t want you to go too long without one of those. Whatever else would you write about ? I wonder at what point smart began to equal cynical in this “society”.

We may be loud, overweight and rude tourists, but my God, American music is so much better than that of the rest of the world. Well, actually I’ll make an exception for some genres of British music.
You KNEW you were never gonna get away with that. Do you really think ALL European music (except for the British genres implied) is like that DaBaDee-Crap ?
And even if it was, the best music in the world would STILL be Canadian

Sorry Cold, Rush does not make and entire country’s contribution superb. Euro music is garbage.
I however have been hearing this song for quite a while now, maybe a month or more, here in Chicago. I’m not sick of it yet, I will be no doubt, but not yet. It’s catchy and fun…if you’re out at a club. I won’t leave it on in the car though.

One who has had this MP3 on his HD for a month now
Oh yeah, the video is horrendous, it makes me feel embarassed for the band and their families.
“Euro music is garbage.”
Hey, at least we only have to get down on ONE knee when we meet our head of state
Seriously though: if one good band doesn’t make Canadian music superb, then one crap song doesn’t make all Euro (an entire CONTINENT, mind you !) music garbage.
Unless you define Euro Music as “all crap electronic dance shit that was produced within the geographical constraints of the European continent”. In which case you are absolutely right.

While I haven’t listened to that song yet, I want to have it noted that I have never heard Mambo #5…I only listen to country, and while it has it’s lousy artist/songs, at it’s worst, it’s not as bad as most of the top 40 stuff.
Let it be said that rubes likes Euro Music, at least the watered down stuff that makes it here. Pet Shop Boys, Art of Noise, etc, although for a few years I thought Ministry was English.
I don’t really care where it comes from as long as it has a good beat. In fact, I’ll go out on a limb and say that I really enjoy a good Polish Polka. Not that german crap (and my mom is from Germany, and I’m 7/8 German, so PC police don’t arrest me)
I dunno about “new”; Z100 out of NYC has been playing it for a few months. And it has sucked for the duration. It sounds like it took about 20 minutes worth of effort. Literally. Although I don’t hate it with the white-hot rage that I reserve for LFO’s “Summer Girls”. That song makes me want to torture kittens.

Oh, for God’s sake. Have you ever even BEEN to Columbus? It’s the 15th largest city in the U.S. according to the 1998 data, and growing rapidly. We have one of the largest college campuses in the world. It’s not fucking Assboink, Idaho, here. You know, there’s stuff other than corn and cows. Actual gasp culture!
And I don’t think Brian heard the song here, anyway. I’d imagine our Top-40 station has sense enough not to play it, but it doesn’t matter, because there are several better radio stations to listen to before settling for that dreck.

There was a New Yorker cartoon some years ago showing a couple of people in Hell, with all the requisite flames, demons with pitchforks, and the usual trimmings. However, they were wearing headphones, and the punchline was something to the extent that part of their torture was being forced to listen to Top 40 music eternally.
I laughed at the time. But consider this post…
Hey there are a lot of really good Canadian Bands.
For instance.
The Tragically Hip
The Tea Party
Rush
Our Lady Peace
Sarah McLachlan
And of course we have our share of bad music.
Celine Dion
Shania Twain
Brian Adams
Oh and in order to say something about the original post. I heard Blue over a month ago, and damn if it is impossible to get out of your head.
