Be the first in line to hate this song!

The band is called Eiffel 65. The song is “Blue (Da Ba Dee)”.

It was an international smash, and judging from my trip to Columbus this past weekend, every Top 40 station in this country will be playing it soon, seventy times a week.

It’s dinstinctive characterization is “Da-ba-dee-da-ba-da” repeated throughout. Most catchy. Even more annoying.

So be the first in line to HATE this song. It’s about to take over…

Here is (possibly) your first taste:

Yer pal,
Satan

Well, if you paste the link into your Real Player, it should work. For some reason, it ain’t just opening it up. Still, you’re ALL gonna be sick of the song in a few weeks anyway.

I saw the video for it a while ago and i hate it completely.

If you feel that you must suffer, then plan your suffering carefully–as you choose your dreams, as you conceive your ancestors.

Well, Old Scratch, it DOES suck, but I’ve heard MUCH worse lately. (e.g. EVERY song by Little Miss Spears).

Ahem. Checking in.

It was a HUGE summer hit in Europe. And it’s a catchy mothfck too…

AAAAAAHHH !! It is AWFUL. Thanks, Satan

Good gravy, it’s just getting to America? Coldfire’s right, it infested Europe (Germany, at least; can’t speak for the rest of the E.U.) for far too long.

The hell of it is, my toddler, who likes to know the names of songs, recognizes it instantly and wants me to sing along. I’m torn – if I go along to encourage my son’s interest in music, I just know that I’ll never free my mind from that ‘BLUE-dee-da-da-doo-dee-daa-DOO-da-dee-da-da-da’ crap again. What to do, what to do…

Damn you, Satan. (Normally, I’d apologize for coarse language, but that has something of a fitting ring to it.) I concentrated on that blasted song to get the cadence right in my post, and now it’s running through my brain.

I hope you can sleep at night.

shantih,

are you a real German or just another migrated American ?

Had to ask… only a few Europeans on this board you know.

I don’t mind the catchy chorus. I hate the off-key verses, though! Ugh!

Uh, why would anyone listen to a Top 40 station?

Hey, Coldfire!

Nope, just another American ex-pat. If it counts, my son is both German and American, and I’m closely related to him.

What on earth are you doing up at this hour?

I havnt heard it, but there is NO WAY it is stupider than : “Shake your bon bon, shake your bon bon shake your bon bon…”

ACK!!!

Man, that was awful, now I will definately have nightmares tonight!

I’ll have to wait 20 years to have it spoil my ears. I only listen to the classic rock station. And that is only in the car, which is rare enough.

This song has been playing in Tampa for a while now. it surprises me, because we are usually one of the last places to get new music.

We may be loud, overweight and rude tourists, but my God, American music is so much better than that of the rest of the world. Well, actually I’ll make an exception for some genres of British music.

But mainland Europe should really stick to only scoring Volkswagen commercials.

We gladly devour those who would subdue us.

cd now
try that, although it does not play the title annoyment
Move your body got played in restaurant juke boxes in Denmark, as I remember.
As the sultans of swing say, It ain’t what we call rock and roll…

I’m not gonna listen! Nooooo! I’ll never hear it if I don’t, and I don’t WANT to! When I was in Israel I got all that European trashy music that took ages to get to the U.S., or never got there at all (anyone in the U.S. ever hear “Your Love’s Like Chocolate”? I hate whoever sings that song!). I am just not that much of a masochist.

“Anger is what makes America great.”

Hmm, interesting. It has a distinct euro-flavor and I’m surprized they’d play it in America at all, much less Columbus. (For the record, I’m in the San Francisco area and haven’t heard it, but don’t listen to the radio much.)

"Hi, I’m Troy McClure! You may remember me from such medical films as “Alice Doesn’t Live Anymore” and “Mommy, What’s Wrong with That Man’s Face?”

I was in Ireland & Britain over the holidays and watched one of those end-of-the-year music shows, you know the kind that recaps everything big that happened in the music world over the year … well they asked a bunch of pop stars what was their most hated song of the year. Without exception, everyone* said “the da-ba-dee” song. So it looks like that line’s pretty long already
