I was in Ocean City, NJ this weekend, signing a lease for a beach house. I’m not sure how these things work in other states, but such a rental in NJ usually means you’re renting one floor, a self-contained unit, if you will. This one has two bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room (of sorts). Not a big thing. But my friend and I plan to spend most of our time out of the house, say on the beach or on the boardwalk, so size isn’t a big issue.
Anyway, I’m extending an invite right now to anyone if they want to drop by for the day. The dates are August 25 - September 1. It should still be awfully hot out (and humid), and by then the ocean temp. should be fairly warm, too.
If you’ve never been to Ocean City, NJ (not Maryland), here’s what it’s like. There’s a stretch of boardwalk that’s basically a scaled-down version of Atlantic City, except no casinos. It’s filled with arcades, gift shops, soda shops, miniature golf, a water park, and amusement-park rides. Also, there’s this beach, which can indeed get crowded. And one big catch for you non-NJ people: the beach costs money to get on. (You enter the beach from the boardwalk itself, and there are workers stationed at the entrances with badges. Forget how much, but it might be $2-5 for one day. )
I’ve rented in this town in years past, but this is the first time I’ve not done so in a large group. There will only be two of us actually staying there.
If you’re interested in dropping by for a day at the beach during those dates, let me know. I’ll email ya with the pertinent information. (But please, mostly Dopers only; don’t bring along your entire family!)
And yes, I know it’s only May right now; I’ll bump this thread as we approach that week.
