Beagle gets hurt

aw, poor pup.

i hope he is doing better and back to poopformance art soon.

He is not getting better, He does not seem able to poop properly. His appetite is good.He is dragging himself around the basement floor.

Poor guy. I hope things turn around for him soon.

His poop performances make me giggle insanely, though. Dogs are funny!

I have been online checking doggy wheeel chairs. They come in different costs and configurations. I have one chance to get it right. But ,if he does not start getting bowel movements it does not matter.

http://www.dogstogo.net/ - I also posted this in the dachshund injury thread. These folks custom built a cart for Tasha. The cost is minimal. Get better soon Quincy!

Quincy is an unusually smart dog. He plots and plans. One night he went to my wifes side of the bed and made noises to indicate he had to go outside to pee. She got up and he walked her to the door. When she got close ,he turned and ran for the bedroom, jumped in bed ,climbed under the covers and laid down nwith his head on her pillow. When she came back he growled at her to go away. He made a plan and carried it out.
He was licking out an Alpo can in the basement. It was rolling around on the slanted floor. He took the can and jammed it into his dry food bowl and licked it clean. So there are often cans jammed in the dry food.

gonzomax - I have a plotter, too. Grace the dobie will whine for a while if one of the other dogs has the bed she wants to sleep on. then she’ll come over to me to get petted. That makes the other dogs rush in because they’re jealous. Then she steals the bed she wanted all along.

Good lucky with Quincy. Steroids can work miracles sometimes.

StG

I’m following Quincy’s story as my Brownie is suffering the same thing right now. Best wishes to you two.

This is obviously a lot more common than I thought.

A good sign: Quincy farted.

Usually, the dog fart is evil. It still smells, but he farted, which means things are moving in that end.

Who’da thunk a dog fart would be good news??!!! Go, Quincy, go!

Okay, so there’s hope. Quincy pooped at 2 in the morning.

That’s great news! He might regain use, like my dog Bandit did. It took a few weeks for him to be able to stand on his own, and a few months to where he could walk again on his own (til then, we used the wheeled crate to take him out and the towel under the legs thing) and lots of dedication, but he did get to use his legs again. My vet at the time was a little new-ageish and recommended massages for him, too.

hurrah!

Poor Quincy. I’m glad he’s in good hands with you two, but I think he’d feel much better if there were log involved!

(Log being the snack I think I remember being Quincy’s favorite snack, not like… any other type of log. Clearly.)

He’s in my thoughts.

Log is compressed dog food rolls. Quincy gets an inch of log every night. He loves it. Nordberg loves it too.

I’m glad to hear Quincy is progressing. That is good news indeed.

Slow and steady! Here’s hoping he continues to improve!

Plunked Quincy down in the front yard today. He can not run away or into the street. He saw a squirrel and tried like hell to chase it. His back legs seem a little better. He can wag his tail as well as ever. His crappy attitude has returned. I don’t trust my observations because I want him to recover so badly. He is not happy watching me take Nordberg for a walk everyday. Quincys locomotion style is like a dog wiping its butt on the rug. He pulls himself along with his front legs. It is not pretty and it is slow.

Poor little Quincy!! Here’s to another day and another step in the right direction.
