Pick up new beagle Saturday

Another rescue, this one is 7 months old. He is getting his sack chopped off and will be ready to come home Saturday. Humane Society rescue of an yet another abused beagle. He is skittish but he will be fine.
Nordberg is the fun part. She has been so lonely since Quincy died. Her tail which like most beagles is up and wagging has been down since he died. She does not wag. It was get another dog or try Prozac. But it wont be easy, it never is. House training, pecking order, and living with a cat will be on the curriculum. He will learn and have long walks twice a day and backyard squirrels to attack. He has a ear infection and I will have to administer ear drops until it goes, but that is no big deal.

Rescue is holy work. Go you!

I hope you and Nordberg are very happy.

Congratulations to you and to the beagle puppy who has no idea yet that he’s just hit the jackpot.

Quincy would be proud and honored.

Quincy would have kicked his doggie butt. He would have made it clear who was top dog.
The question is what will Nordberg do? I am thinking of Drebin for its’ name.

He is getting neutered. How well will be able to get around? I figure it is being done better than it was in the old days.

Congrats, and thank you for adopting.

Spaying is a more serious operation than neutering, and Simone came home wanting to run around the living room from her spay at 7-8 months of age. Keeping her activity level down was the challenge.

Sadie was older when she was spayed (2.5-3 years) and took longer to recover – she lay in bed a lot, began lactating, and collected her toys and tried to nurse them. Apparently the hormonal changes caused by spaying can bring on a “false pregnancy.”

I think your guy will probably be a little sore and shouldn’t overdo exercise, but it’s not likely to slow him down much.

It’s not going to be Drebin. We have to wait until we play with the puppy to find out. With that being said, “Winston” is the frontrunner.

Man Hallmark’s really reaching deep into the well for new Holidays.

Winston says “basset” to me. Or something else with jowls - bulldog, perhaps. Beagles aren’t big jowl dogs.

Fred. Frederick when he’s been naughty. Fred is a beagle name. IMHO. Of course, I’m not going to have to live with it.

What about “Barry”?

Good luck with the new Beagle!!

Mommypants and I have two beagles. Sydney we got from a “breeder” and later found out was born in a puppy mill. Ginger was adopted from a rescue agency. Obligatory pics

Also, a couple shots of our cookytiel, Caesar.

Note how your dogs tails are in the air. Nord’s has been down pressed against her body and hanging down ,since Quincy died.

Makes me think of Marrian Barry. Are you trying to say he will hang around with loose doggies and smoke crack?

I’d go for Papshmir.

Or maybe Spencer.

Papshmir was on my short list. Nordberg actually named herself. She is the nicest dog , sweet easy and trouble free. But when she was a puppy ,she kept getting in trouble that really wasn’t her fault. She kept doing things Quincy did. Then I watched Naked Gun again and saw how Nordberg did every thing right and kept getting hung out to dry. It just seemed right. New dog would name himself if we let him.

Nord is sleeping next to me right now. She does not know that everything will change tomorrow.

Y’know, if you don’t post some pics tomorrow, I’m gonna as sad as poor Nordberg has been. I’ve never had one myself, but I think beagles are dangerously adorable. Those ears!

And good on you for adopting.
