Beagle gets hurt

:frowning:
I’m so sorry, guys.

I’m so sorry gonzo and LOUNE. It sounds like he had a great life with you guys.

This is so much like what I went through with my poor kitty Wolfie, except we didn’t even get to the point of making a decision for him; he just slipped away during that last night. I think he even lasted 10 days.

I am so very sorry. Be sure to remember the good times.

Good night, Quincy. You were a very good dog.

i’m so sorry.

What terrible things to read, and how shocking for both of you, gonzomax and LOUNE. I’m so sorry. It is always frightening to me how quickly pets can go downhill, and how relatively little we seem to know about veterinary medicine (no offense to any vets reading this, y’all have been amazing to my pets over the years).

Oh, I’m so sorry for your loss. :frowning:

We lost our Yorkie 16 months ago. It was a shocking loss as well. He came to us around 2am to let us know he was having trouble breathing. We took him to the Emergency Vet who put him in an oxygen chamber to help him breathe. We left him in their care not ever considering he was going to die. About an hour later we got the call that he had died.

My heart literally broke in two. We’ll never know what happened. We weren’t able to be with him during the last hour of his life. :frowning: I’m crying as I write this I miss him so.

Nordberg is miserable. She goes in the yard 30 times a day looking for Quincy. She is so sad. She is needy. I guess we are looking at adopting another beagle.
Beagles are like high speed internet. Once you have one you can’t go back to dial up.

Please give you and your family (including Nordberg) time to grieve before bringing a puppy into the house. It’s a huge adjustment to make and it rarely works out like you think it will.

Oh, how did I miss this one??? :frowning:

I am so sorry to be joining the thread so late, but please accept my sincere condolences on your loss!

I agree… let some time pass, and PLEASE see if you can rescue another little one from a nearby shelter.

I am a shelter volunteer, and it IS appreciated.

Beagles are one of my favorite dogs as far as personality goes!

Thank you for wanting to adopt.

I’m so sorry you lost a good friend.

I have a beagle (well, my parents do. I moved out years ago) that is not long for this world. He, like your beagle, has had a loving home for his whole life. That doesn’t make it easier on his human parents.

My condolences.

:frowning:

That depends, really. For some, waiting is best. For others, getting another dog right away is best.
I’m sorry, gonzo. :frowning:

It just depends on the person and the situation. For us, adopting again soon was absolutely the right decision - maybe not for everybody, but we are so happy with Captain here. He isn’t Haplo, but then who is? That’s the point - he’s a completely different dog, with a different place in our lives.

I just got home from my cruise and saw there were responses to this thread and hoped for happy updates. I am so, so sorry that it was otherwise, and I’m glad that at least there was the chance for goodbyes.

Very, very sorry for your loss. I was hoping the little guy would pull through when I first read this thread.

I just returned late to this thread. I was hoping that Quincy would hang in there and improve, but was saddened to see it wasn’t going to be so. I’m sorry you lost your little buddy. I’m giving my dogs extra belly rubs and treats tonight on behalf of gonzomax, LOUNE, and Quincy.

So sorry. It’s hard to say goodbye to a beloved pet.

Sorry you guys :frowning:

Yeah, I never thought I’d see it but I had a cat who had the same attitude. It wasn’t usually a struggle to get her into the carrying case even though the only time she went in there was when she went to the vets (where she was always anally probed). And she never even saw the outside of the car when in the carrying case.

I guess she was so bored (me not having another cat, since she basically adopted me,) that she’d do anything for a change.

Nordberg is not doing very well. She is going out in the yard much more often. I think she is looking for Quincy. She is slowly beginning to bark at noises more. Quincy took care of protecting the house. She slept through most of his scent or noise expeditions. Now it is becoming her job.
