He died in the doorway to the vet’s office. At least I got to say my goodbyes.

Aww! I’d been keeping an eye on this thread, and hoped that Quincy would heal. I am saddened to hear of his passing. You took good care of him, though, and made him as comfortable as you could, gonzomax and LOUNE; many hugs to your family.
He was breathing badly today . I took him to the vets . I carried him in ,put him on the table and he died in less than a minute. It was so sad. He was the best dog I ever had. I still don’t know what happened. My fairly aloof cat just spent an hour on my lap snuggling in.
Awww. It’s so hard to lose a good companion. Quincy had a lot of folks pulling for him.
May you find comfort in the ways you improved his life.

Oh no! I am so sorry. 
I remember when our beagle died. He lived to a good age but developed cancer, so we had to have him put to sleep. He loved car rides, so when my father took him to the vet, he thought it was a real treat. Little did he know. :(

Whats hard to deal with is that a week ago last Monday he was chasing a squirrel and hurt himself . He squealed in pain and his legs were hurt. How that translates to being dead 10 days later ,i do not know. The last 10 days of his life I carried him everywhere he went. He was better ,then a little worse but never did I think he was in danger of dying. Then yesterday his breathing was labored. My wife noticed it and I told her he was dying. She made an appointment with the vet and off we went. I carried him in.put him on a table and seconds later he quit breathing and was gone. I will never understand what the hell happened.
