Had a fun day out galavanting, as my grandmother would have said. First went to the Farmer’s Market store and stocked up on fresh fruits & veggies - I even got some leeks and beets! I’m thinking of making potato-leek soup, we’ll see. Then stopped at the grocery store on the way home; I had some meds ready for pick up at the pharmacy there and we also needed a few grocery store items. Finally, we made a last stop at a place called Weinerschnitzel and got some hot dogs and burgers for lunch; I tried a Chicago Dog, which I enjoyed but oh my gosh, that thing was messy and the sport peppers were a bit too hot for me! The air was really hazy when we first went out, we were getting smoke from a fire in Arizona. Later in the day, the smoke cleared out as winds blew in from the east. Hard to believe how much of that smoke traveled so far!
Whew, I am a bit beat tonight, so shall sleep good and rest up tomorrow. I am enjoying being out and about, though, and look forward to my next outing.
Bobbio, I borrowed your poison [del]pen[/del] keyboard earlier for an email…to my employer. I really should start a pit thread against them & the various Departments of Labor who won’t do shit because of stoopit & conflicting rules. :mad:

I have invitated folks to come hang at the cee-mint pond on Sattidy. We’ll do hot dawgs for N.O.L. and smoked chikin laigs for dindin. I figure dawgs and chips for N.O.L. and chikin laigs, slaw and baked beans for dindin oughta be enough of a feed. Plus beer.

I woke up this morning without a cat hogging the covers. I didn’t see him when I went out to free Higgs. Then I remembered that **FCD **went down to the basement last night - Taz spent the night trapped in the basement. We’ll need to check today for kitteh poops. Poor Taz. I gave him (and Ziva) some kitteh treats - I’m sure he’ll recover.
We had a big ol’ thunderboomer storm come thru last evening, but the power never even flickered, despite some pretty close hits. I think it might have rained again overnight - all I know for sure is that there’s a big ol’ puddle in the driveway (we have a low spot) and it’s still overcast. We might get some more rain today as the cold front comes thru - we shall see.
More glazing today, plus I have 2 dog dishes that need to have the bottoms finished. Getting closer and closer to firing the kiln. Yay! I’ve also got to make a run for critter kibbles and a few other items - I’ll do that early to get it out of the way.
I went to the pub last night, it was very nice, weather was fine enough to sit outside until last orders when we went back in as it was turning chilly. Woke up at 4am to hear the rain bucketing down outside. Frogs would have been strangled in that weather.
I’m having a strange sort of goodbye day today, at lunchtime I’m off out with the girls from the office for goodbye drinks as I leave tomorrow, and then tonight the academics are taking me out for drinks and dinner to either thank me for bailing them out, or to say good riddance.
Tomorrow will be my last day in the department, the fact that I have holiday booked has caused the stand-in line manager to throw a positive fit and refuse to authorise it, so I am leaving the assignment instead. This is despite the office staff and academics all telling her that they want me to stay. Honestly, you couldn’t make it up.
We have air conditiong…sort of. The unit is installed and working but when they were trying to install the dual zone thingie, somebody wired something wrong and blew an electrical panel. So they have to come back on Friday and fix it. But other than that, YAY!

If you Mac does indeed have a VGA port as someone suggested, go to second hand stores. Folks are giving away old picture tube monitors, even leaving them on the curbside.

I had a dr appt this morning, that is done. I was late getting there because I forgot to bring the address with me.
I’m back to being my normal grumpy self.
It’s one of those days where everything seems to be working against me. It’s all small things but after a while it gets annoying.
I think I’m going to take a nap.

Standing in the kitchen at irk, leaning against the wall while my NOL heats up in the nukealator. Happen to be watching one of the other nukelators, with some type of sauce in an uncovered Tupperware container, when “BOOM”, the sauce decides to let out some heat by exploding. A few more seconds & a second “BOOM” before he can turn it off. Cleanuppage (is too a word) ensued :smack:
Late lunch break. I trimmed both dog dishes, so they’re sitting out to dry. And I decorated a pot as if I were a 6-y/o - a house, some trees, some flowers, a girl and a kitteh, puffy clouds, the sun with rays, and birds represented by 2 curved lines. I’s so artistical. I’m now having a PB&J and some ice water.
House is closed and a/c is on. Dammit. But a cold front is coming thru, so I can reopen tomorrow and maybe Saturday. We shall see.
I’ve also got to make a run for critter kibbles and a few other items - I’ll do that early to get it out of the way.
