I have a similar thing going. I have a very thin beard, so it starts to look bad if the whiskers get too long. I trim it back about every week or two. When trimmed it probably looks like what you’re describing. I prefer it to no beard at all, because I’m pretty baby-faced at 46 years old,.
I used to grow a beard a week, whether I needed one or not.
Some of us do it because our beards are turning grey, and we don’t want to look like history professors from old movies yet. Trimming the beard close makes it look less grey.
The beard is generally the first thing to go grey.
I don’t know why younger guys do it, though.
I can shave my face with the grain and against the grain. By the time I’m through I STILL look like I have that barely there look.
Also, I’d like to personaly thank George Clooney for making this a sexy look.
I meant to respond to this earlier. I think of more whiskers. You pretty much have the same number of whiskers on “Beard Day 6” as you do on “Beard Day 1.” And if your beard is thin to begin with, it might look even worse as the whiskers get longer. That’s been my experience.
