Bears: "Offense? Offense?...

… We don’ need no stinking offense!"
Bears 24, Cards 23.
No Bear points from the offense.

I hate the bears.

So much.

I’m not even a Cardinals fan.

That was the craziest win ever. I’m a Bears fan but we had no business winning that game.

But I’ll take it.

A field goal isn’t offensive?

It’s special teams, I guess.

That might be the weirdest football game I’ve ever seen.

I walked away from it in disgust 3 times I think. Reminded me of the Illinois-Arizona NCAA game from 2 years ago. Hmm, I didn’t notice the coincidence of the geography until now. Same team colors too.

That was my first thought too, but I guess Marley23 is correct. It appears to fall under special teams.

Still, that was a super weird game.

I so thought my Bears were doomed, I tells ya, doomed!

Is this the Twilight Zone or something? Is Devin Hester really an android?

It was weird. I hope Grossman doesn’t think we are going to win all of our games like that. Geez.

If you saw the press conference after the game, Rexie seemed to get it. He said something like, “we have the whole next week to talk about how poorly I played”.

Then again, up to this point he and the offense have done a damn fine job this season. Let’s just hope they get it together again for the next game.

That WAS odd. There’s no way that the Bears deserved to win that game, but they did, and I’ll take it!!

Really, it’s one of those confluence-of-circumstances things that happen in football, starts with a goofy call, or a play that’s out of the ordinary, and rolls on down hill, causing the improbable to become reality.

Though I don’t much care for him, that Leinart kid played his ass off, while Grossman couldn’t find his receiver with radar. Urlacher’s really the one that turned it around though. Somebody put a quarter in him after the 3rd.

Still and all, they’re 6-0!!! Go Bears!

No, I didn’t see it…but I’m sure I will see the highlights on the news tomorrow!

I don’t mean to rip on Rex…he’s been playing amazingly well, and everyone has an off game from time to time.

But man, it was way, way off!

I saw that game at Gamekeepers. Had promised my GF, months earlier, to take her out for a romantic dinner that night. After the Illini made it to that game, I had a dilemma.

Fortunately, Geja’s qualifies as romantic, and doesn’t take reservations. You have to put your name in, and wait. (Drop the owner’s name? John Davis? Who’s that? Never heard of him.)

I watched the first half at home, as she got ready. Gamekeepers, being right across the street from Geja’s, was the obvious place to wait and (imagine that?) the Illini game was on.

Of course, the OT part screwed up my timing, but the insanity of the crowd, plus half the Geja’s staff coming over, meant I didn’t lose my place, or my GF’s tolerance.

Great night.

Heh, before I found this thread I made the same comparison to that Illini game here in the weekly football thread.

Good god this game was a trip. Reminds me of that San Fran game from a few years back. When Urlacher turned it on and made that strip I knew things were going to get interesting. I’ve never felt it was so critical that a defensive turnover be converted to a score before, usually just getting the ball back is enough. Not tonight.

Only thing I can recall about the Bears is a line from “Two of a Kind.”

Professor to his brother: It’s not football. It’s the Bears.

First Pro game I’ve watched for any time for over 20 years. I was flipping back and forth between Daily show and Colbert Report. Only because I am an SC Fan and heard Lienart was playing.

:open_mouth:

They were ahead by 20 points TWICE! I flip back. Oh. The Bears scored somehow. Flip back. Not much time left, Matt can win this! Flip back. THIER BEHIND BY A POINT? Flip back. No worries. They got the ball and will kick a 3 pointer to seal it.

They miss? This happens in the Pros?

That game was why I only watch college ball. Its all like that!

I wasn’t entirely surprised that the defense scored 14 points. That part seems almost normal, but for this years offense to do absolutely nothing had me yelling at my TV every (three and out) drive.

Still, gotta love the ‘W’

Go Bears.

Is it just me, or does it seem improbable that the Bears will go too much longer before they next win at least the NFC?

I turned to my F-I-L at halftime and said “You watch, the Bears are going to turn it around and win this one.”

Man was I ever wrong. What a foolish statement. I suuuuuck at predictions!

See, I figured the offense would actually play a significant role in any victory. Ha!

The weidest thing is that there is a lot of the Cardinal team that can’t take any blame for the loss and actaully played a good game.

Leinart and his offense actually put up 23 points against a Bears defense that literally has shut down other teams.
The Cardinals defense kept the Bears to a field goal. Can’t really blame them.

So who’s to blame? Special teams kickoff team. The guy who got the ball stripped by Urlacher. And the offensive guy who fumbled the first one. 3 mistakes, big mistakes. But you sure can’t put any blame on Leinart or the Cards defense.
