Beatallica!

I ran across this gem of a band today. They take the concepts of Metallica songs, and set them to Beatles tunes. Here’s a lyrical excerpt from The Thing That Should Not Let It Be:

“Let it be, let it be. Hybrid children watch the sea. He is the thing that should not let it be.”

All of their work is available for free download. Check it out!

That site is hilarious! Not only is the singer a dead ringer for Hetfield, the music itself sounds exactly like what you’d hear on a regular Metallica album.

Can’t wait for the second album!!

Thank you *ultrafilter! No only is the sound dead on, but the lyrics are hilarious.

I wonder if there is anything else remotely like this?

excellent. bloody excellent.

Brilliant.

One comment- particularly in “The thing that should not Let it Be” the lead singer sounds more like Wierd Al…

But in most of the other songs he does a great Hetfield. Maybe he was just nasal that day…

Great stuff. I wasn’t listening too closely to the lyrics, but I did quite like the “Death to whoever will not let it be” line.

There’s a band called Apocalyptica which takes Metallica songs and plays them on cellos. I’ve also heard them do a few Pantera songs as well, and they’re actually pretty good. :stuck_out_tongue:

See also “Hayseed Dixie”, who do bluegrass versions of AC/DC songs.

Or, Dread Zeppelin, a band that does reggae versions of Led Zeppelin songs. Their lead singer is an Elvis impersonator, so they manage to work the King into their act as well.

Some friends of mine have for some time considered creating Antichrist Superska, a Marilyn Manson ska cover band. Personally, I think it’d be hilarious.

They provide the score for the film Your Friends and Neighbors, FYI.

Or, you could look at Country Music, which does country versions of songs by pop artists such as Linda Ronstat, John Waite, Paul Davis, etc.

I love stuff like this :D. Has anyone heard Richard Cheese?
