I guess it’s a sign that I’m of a different generation, that nobody’s mentioned the actress who first sprang to mind for me–Ellen Barkin . Back in the day, I read some magazine article that described her as resembling a beautiful doll that had been shattered and then put back together again, imperfectly.

I can’t find any pictorial evidence, but I always remember the late Lee Remick as being particularly lop-sided. Didn’t seem to hold her back.

I think some of the comments on that page are right - it looks like she might be wearing transparent tape of some sort to lift and separate, and the right piece is poorly positioned. Either that or it’s Photoshopped.

Startling Implication of Uneven Breasts

Women who have breasts that are of noticeably different sizes have a higher risk of developing breast cancer when compared with women whose breasts are more symmetrical, report London’s Daily News and the BBC News.

Researchers from Britain’s Liverpool University studied the mammograms of 504 healthy women, half of whom eventually developed breast cancer and half of whom remained cancer-free. They found that the odds of getting breast cancer went up 50 percent for each 100ml increase in breast asymmetry. While such asymmetry is a significant predictor of breast cancer, study leader Dr. Dianne Scutt warned that women should remember that one risk factor should not be taken in isolation. “You have to see it in the context of a women’s entire profile,” she told the Daily News. “If women are in a high risk category and they are found to have breast volume asymmetry maybe this will alert people to monitor them more closely.”

The takeaway: Do note that only 1 percent of women had “perfect” breasts and that some asymmetry is perfectly normal. “If your breasts are normally close in size and you notice them becoming asymmetrical, it is important to get this checked out with your doctor,” Maria Leadbeater of Britain’s Breast Cancer Care told the Daily News. The study findings were published in the journal Breast Cancer Research.
