That’s just mean. Once, walking in NYC with my 3 year old daughter, she saw a hooker on the sidewalk, pointed, and said, “Mommy, look at the beautiful lady!” That lady burst into a huge grin. My daughter had made her day. I did not say anything to contradict my child.
My dentist is an attractive busty Indian lady. When she’s just cleaning my teeth or examining my mouth, it’s normal. But when she’s working way in the back, like when she put a crown on one of my wisdom teeth, she cradles my head in her bosom. The first time it happened, i realized that the last woman to hold me like that was my mother, when i was much smaller.
I found it a little disconcerting.
I’m certain it is unselfconscious on her part, and not intended to mean anything. It’s just how her body ends up when she’s engaged in the back of my mouth.
One of the more surreal experiences that happened to me…
One Saturday night I stopped at a gas station, got a fountain soda, and waited in line to pay. There were probably three other men and one woman. She was slim but curvy, dressed well, ready for the club I’d say. She had chosen a hot dog from the roller grill and added condiments. IIRC the gas station was having some computer problems because it took awhile for the line to move. This woman was looking each of us in the eye, taking slow, fellatious bites of the dog…
To this day I don’t know what that was about but I have two theories:
“Look at me…I’m gorgeous but you can’t have me.”
“I’m a transvestite or transexual.” Women that attractive don’t need to pick up random guys in gas stations.
I didn’t think she was an ordinary prostitute; maybe a call girl. If so, why would she be in a gas station etc. ?
As someone related in another thread, a young coed tried using her beauty to get an educator to write her paper for her with a (thinly disguised) offer of sex—the A for a lay is a cliche, of course.
So I’m positive some guys get approached but there’s always the question of why.
Several years ago I used to go on an early morning walk, during which I passed through the intersection shown in the link. It was probably around 6:00 am and the lighting and traffic probably wasn’t much different than that shown. I was walking along the sidewalk in the left foreground, about to cross the street. At the far right side of the intersection there was an attractive young woman standing there, nicely enough dressed (not like a prostitute but in white casual pants, blouse or shirt with a sweater vest). And there was nothing skanky or anything unusual about her. Anyone would probably assume that she was waiting for a car pool to the office or something.
As I started crossing the street, the woman started walking diagonally into the intersection directly towards me. When there was no recognition visible on my face and she was about three or four feet away from me, she did a u-turn and walked back to her corner. And I continued walking down the street to finish my walk.
I still remember my ah ha moment when a woman friend explained that you would be there at the bar forever if you were waiting for a woman to approach you, but it was just so much easier to learn to read the signals which said that an approach was welcomed.
This thread reminds me of something from 1981 in NYC. I was taking a taxi from the Port Authority Bus Terminal to an address on the upper West Side. Along the way the taxi driver waved at some women standing on some street corners. He told me they were hookers, and he could give me some good recommendations if I were interested.
As a naive 19 year old I was too shocked to even answer him.
You must know that Lacasse Ave. is right in the heart of Vanier which unfortunately, is one of the seedier areas in Ottawa. It has significant issues with theft, robbery, drugs, prostitution, gangs, domestic violence, etc…
It’s possible she was a prostitute, or would ask you for money or drugs, or just rob you…or not.
I know the area well, because I lived in Overbrook at the time and I’ve seen my share of the typical Vanier denizens more than enough times. However, I know what you’re saying and I’ve often wondered if she was simply a nicely-dressed “vendor” of some sort. She was showing no skin as certain vendor types do; the only odd and remarkable thing was the episode as described. She was just outside the spatial bubble for any sort of normal interaction (eg “wanna go on a date?”, “give me your wallet!” etc).
She was an interesting blend of girl-next-door, nice coworker in the professional office.
I have a coworker that was robbed while walking down the street in that neighbourhood at 6:30am. There was a lot of snow and the sidewalks were uncleared and slippery. It was dark and cold. He had turned sideways to allow a woman to pass him on the narrow sidewalk and was punched in the back of the head. She tackled him, grabbed his wallet out of his back pocket and ran away before he even knew what hit him.
I lived in Centretown while in University, we had a “pro” that worked the corner outside our house. She would alway try to hop into our cars whenever anyone tried to pull into our laneway.
