Because Clearly, Bobby Jindal can't be bothered to argue against real liberal positions

This must be where the Barack Obama that Clint Eastwood debated came from.

I’d like to see him run, and even win the Republican Party nomination so that I can start a campaign questioning if he’s a natural-born American, based on his overseas conception. (He was born in the US about six months after his parents arrived in the US.)

(As it is, I wonder how anyone seriously mentions Ted Cruz as a viable candidate, as he was born in Canada.)

This is coming from a guy who once helped perform an exorcism.

Weren’t 32 oz sodas banned by Michael Bloomberg, who’s a Republican?

I’ll grant you Bloomberg’s not part of the Republican mainstream but does Jindal really think the GOP is in a position to go rhino hunting? I’m thinking they should be aiming more for a big tent theme.

Be sure to quote the conservative assertion that life begins at the moment of conception.

Bloomberg is, practically speaking, an independent. He’s run as both a Republican and a Democrat at various times, iirc, based on what would be most salubrious for his campaign.

They might, if there were anybody in charge. The Republican Party is an authoritarian structure without anybody making decisions. They got smart people all around them, telling them just what you and I might tell them, but no one who can say “Do it!” and make it stick.

No, Bloomberg was registered as a Democrat at one point. But he never ran for office as a Democrat. He switched to the Republican party in 2001 and ran for office as a Republican in 2001 and 2005. In 2009 he ran as both an independent and a Republican.

The important thing is that it SOUNDS like a democrat would ban all the big sodas in the world. Because of nanny-state.

Of course it also sounds like a nanny-state would ban the porn too.

How much nanny-state behavior is done by Democrats, though? Unless we’re defining a “nanny state” as one that looks after the well-being of citizens in any way whatsoever.

What the hell is “factory-style” government? One that’s efficient and takes advantage of economies of scale? 'cause that would be a cool new thing.

“At some point, the American public is going to revolt against the nanny state and the leftward march of this president. I don’t know when the tipping point will come, but I believe it will come soon.”

GOD-DAMN!! They’ve been saying this since what, 2008? Wake up! It’s over 4 years later and the guy is 6 months into his second term
“Aaaaany day now, the revolt is coming, just you wait, people aren’t going to put up with this”…zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

1992 at the latest, I should think.

I really wish Obama was the socialist Republicans say he is. Leftward march… it is to dream.

I still think this is the most depressing part of the whole debacle. We have a center-right president with essentially one liberal idea (that got squashed and malformed into something most resembling a proposal originally made by the frickin’ Heartland Institute), and everyone has been screaming about socialism for the last 5 years. Is that much of America really that fucking stupid that one of the “smart” guys from their party could go on and spout a completely unhinged diatribe like that, and then get answers like this?

Holy shit! You stupid fuckers!

“Indeed, the only people who seem to think Obama displays even the slightest social democratic tendency are those who imagine that the very mention of the word ‘socialism’ should inspire a reaction like that of a vampire confronted with the Host.”

John Nichols

In fairness, it’s just the analogue of when liberals were hoping against hope the American people were going to stand up and demand George and pals be impeached and sent to the Hague.

True that. Apathy is a harsh mistress.
