Beck and another shameful moment in the debacle that is my life

Burley is typically a filler. It doesn’t add much, flavour-wise, not does it detract. It just fills.

Early Morning Pipe is just a much milder version of Dunhill’s “Nightcap.” That one is strong on the Latakia, and if you’ve smoked a bowl of Latakia (as I have), you’re glad of the blend in both Early Morning Pipe and Nightcap. I like Latakia, but my gosh, there comes a point.

You know how everybody seems to have one thing they really excel at?

That’s mine.

Cheers.

@Beckdawrek Thank God for Ivy! Back in the day, this might’ve become one of those situations where Mikey would’ve sent a cop to your door for a welfare check. Only Mikey isn’t here to call for you. I’m glad you’re doing better.

StG

Oh, I thought of him.
Poor old @dropzone, he loved his liquor.

Never figured out how he got Vodka delivered to him at his long term health care facility.

He was there when it counted for me.

What did you drink and how much? Where was your minder while you were knocking back shots? Who brought you the goods?

It appeared you’re were a happy drunk if that’s any consolation :clinking_glasses:

I never drank. It was a glucose event.

My insulin pump failed to deliver the proper dosage.

I’m innocent, I tell you. Inn-o-cent.

Good thing they keep a close eye on you what with all those tricks up your sleeve playing miss innocent. :innocent:

Ivy is a blessing. Tell her we said so!

Wow, I didn’t know a glucose event can cause those symptoms. My best friend has diabetes and while he’s had many incidents of going too high or too low, he’s never mentioned psuedo-drunkenness as a symptom. Was yours too high or too low?

Another yay for Ivy. She earned her keep that day.

Seconded.

Diabetics are often confused with drunken individuals. This is why they wear the bracelets.

My glucose was very high.
When I go too low I generally pass out pretty dramatically.

I hoped to the end that he’d get out of that damn place somehow. Going by what he posted, they weren’t treating him right.

People having diabetic crises in public have sometimes been taken for drunk and treated accordingly. Results can be very much not good.

As Beck says, nowadays you can get bracelets – and hope somebody checks for one fast enough.

His daughters say it was a pretty disappointing place, all together.
He reported to me that sometimes you just have what you have and go with it. He was pretty forgiving about it. Made out the best he could. I think I helped him a bit by chatting everyday. I hope I made a tiny difference.

Beck, you did! You made a difference in my life by being there to hear my woes and tell me I’m funny.

Yeah, that’s why it’s normally used in cigarettes, but it does indeed bring the nicotine. The C&D burley flakes normally have some Virgina and/or perique mixed in.

Apropos of noting, American Spirit makes a perique cigarette. They’re very strange.

Hehe, I’ve never had a bowl of straight Latakia, and the old stuff is apparently something you just can’t get anymore. I doubt I could handle it. But yeah, it is really nice in a blend. If I go back to smoking a pipe regularly, I’d have to stock up on some Nightcap (always tasted more perique in that) and Gawith’s Squadron Leader. I’ve actually got a few tins of pre-Peterson Dunhill sitting around.

Yep, I had a friend that we all thought was just a crazed alcoholic. Turns out he was just triggering un-diagnosed diabetes with the alcohol. After he started treating that, he was far less crazed.

It doesn’t seem as if this discussion has much to do with “Beck’s most shameful moment,” but if you’d like to move it to PMs, I’d be there.
