Great. Now I need a “Hamish the Highland Cow*” for absolutely no reason whatsoever. :smack:

*Bull, surely?
I also misunderstood and thought surgery was tomorrow.I won’t take back my wish for good luck tomorrow, though, because who can’t use a little good luck?
No, no the surgery is set for March 2nd. Sorry about the confusion.
It seems I’m not in a crisis yet. If one occurs they will bump me up. I will endeavor to prevent that route.
Lefty-kidney has a few bad cells. Doc’s not worried about that. Told me it was bound to happen. He wants me in the hospital 24hrs early so they can monitor my fasting and not get into trouble. Ugh. He said his only concern was that (diabetic stuff), everything else looked straight foward. No laparoscopic surgery, the old fashioned cut and rip. 12 inch scar and one rib will go.
So it seems ~VOW, I’ll need to jar up a rib bone as well.
My infushions are sooooooo much better at this place. I’m happy with them. I hope the BC/BS don’t mind the higher price. At this point, I don’t care. I’ll pay the difference. It’s that much better.
My diet restrictions are ridiculous. And the new brand of protein drinks are just as nasty. Think drinking chocolate flavored baby formula. Gross!!
To end on a happy note: I got to eat oreos after I visited the graveyard.
( no, silly, I’m not planning my burial yet)
The protein goo they feed us at dialysis is weaponized nasty–my guts sound like a trombone and a calliope having carnal relations a half hour after they dose us, and then the green fog forms under the treatment chairs…
I think you’re gonna need a bigger jar.
This reminds me of the late 80’s, when they said all the Hollywood ladies were having their ribs removed to give them a smaller waist. You sure you’re not sneaking some unnecessary cosmetic mess in there, Beck? ROFL!
Gah!!
How big are human ribs?
Why do protein drinks have to taste so bad? Is it the kind of protein they use? The artificial sweeteners?
I once read that if they’re well-mixed and icy cold, they’re not as bad, but maybe that’s just because your taste buds are too numb to care.
I’ve tried everything. I don’t get it either. If Coke or Pepsi worked on this we’d have a palatable drink in 6 weeks, tops.
It a should be a cash cow. There’s a whole aisle dedicated to them at my pharmacy.
The low ones are quite small and are only attached in one end. Don’t worry about it. A jar big enough for a kidney can house a lower rib too (or you can tell that the dog got it :D).
ETA The protein drinks with cappuccino or coffee taste are not too bad, at least if you love coffee like me.
Recipe for protein drink:
Gather up all ends of chalk from grade schools in the 50s and 60s. Additional chalk dust from the old felt erasers is a bonus!
Boil up hides, hooves, tendons and cartilage from a beef processing plant.
Grind up all those nasty chewable vitamins from the 50s and 60s.
Mix well, divide into three vats. In one vat, throw in all busted white crayons from crayon boxes everywhere. (Those busted pieces you have to color on a piece of paper to tell what color the crayon is!) That is “vanilla.”
In Vat #2, throw in all busted brown crayons. That is “chocolate.”
Of course, Vat #3 is the pink crayon vat, and for giggles we’ll call it “strawberry.”
For entertainment , we’ll also add an extract from Vorlon’s dialysis protein drink.
Sound about right!

Double post. The Dope is in fine fettle this AM!
Why -VOW, I think you’ve got the formula just right.
I’ve just had the berry flavored one.
I had it in the freezer for 30min or so.
Tasted like chunky fruit vomit.
Alas, I had highhopes for ‘Berry’
Yum, tasty recipe, VOW. As soon as I can get me some cow hooves, I’m getting to work. Question: Does the paper have to come off the crayons first, or is it considered healthy fiber?
I’ve been reading about homemade protein drinks for diabetics. Some of them don’t sound too bad. I wonder why you never see those in the store. I mean, some products out there boast their simple ingredients and homemade taste. Why can’t they do that with protein smoothies and sell 'em in the refrigerated section? They’d be good for hospitals, etc., too.
Juven is a pretty good supplement.
My doctor had me drinking it 3 times a day after surgery. The Hospital had it on my tray with every meal. Supposed to be great for wound care.
I prefer the fruit punch flavor. Orange is ok.
I don’t like the sound of losing a rib for the surgery (because I don’t like the idea of removing parts that are doing okay) but I imagine having it gone will feel better than having the pain of waiting for it to heal after being sawn through. My mom went through that after surgery for metastatic breast cancer. But hey, no rib, no pain, at least rib pain.
I feel for you on the protein drinks. They are nasty. Drinking one down is doable, but day after day, it sucks.
If you include crayon wrappers, you can label your protein drink “NOW WITH FIBER!” And charge more money?
Can you post some of those recipes you found for healthy Diabetic protein drinks? I’m interested!

I got the Bullet mixer thing and a regular Blender and went on a tangent trying to make homemade ones. Not real successful. And I still had to eat a handful vitamins afterwards.
They were always palatable if I put icecream in them. Can’t do that much. The CGM goes whack-a-doo.
I made one with unsweetened orange juice and Vanilla suger busters Icecream. I was pucker-y for 2 days. It was goodish.
The commercial ones are easily accountable and with exact amounts. Easier to fit in the diet plan. Just so nasty. Ugh!
Thx, Acey- I’ll try that one. I’m desparate.
(:))
