Y’all be terrible.
Pronounced, “Tur-bull”
Back in the day, IIRC, The Chicago Reader ‘owned’ all our posts. And I often think about that, and wonder “Ok, what happens when Beck publishes a coffee table book from all her rants?”
So I clicked on a recent thread titled “Who Owns Our Content?”
And read:
All postings and other material on the SDMB are copyrighted by STM. Republication of material appearing on the SDMB without express written permission of STM is prohibited, except that users retain the right to republish their own work.
(Bolding mine, as is this note: STM is Sun-Times Media)
So, no excuses, Beck! Crank out that book! And it’ll be easy, if you resist all those editors telling you to proof your stuff and “fix” it, and you can just paste your threads in there as is!
I’ll get right on it.
I’d buy it in a minute, especially if it, as “coffee table book” implies, has pictures. I’d like to see Clarence and Haricot, the wild pigs, the mysterious grave and Bigtoe. I suppose the portraits of Grandwreks, Lilwrekker and other people would be more problematic, but you could perhaps hire some actors and just use the house and environs as location ;).
Nah, she’s too short. I’m picturing an older Daisy Mae with a possum on a leash.
I managed to find Elly May, with a possum, at least.
Except that Beck doesn’t have the copyright to all the replies and questions from other Dopers in her threads, so the continuity would be lost.
Dang!
