How are his languages? The various diplomatic and intelligence services (including the military intelligence services, and yes, we all know the joke) are always looking for good translators. And by good, I mean nearly-native-to-native speaking in multiple languages. Actually, I’d avoid the military for that because they have a habit of needing translators in war zones.
She has an opportunity to go to Japan next summer with her program. She REALLY wants to go. I think I’m safe til then. As far as planning a wedding goes. She’ll carry on to get her degree. I’m not worried about that.
Hamza does not ever want to go back to the middle east. Or, so he says. He does work with English as a second language students now. He’s fluent in about 4 languages. Many dialects. Smart young man. I really like him. The rest of the family has been slower to warm up to him. But he’s now welcome at all our family events.
Best $200 I ever spent.
Have you sent her links for ladders, so they can get one the correct height?
God, I wish they would elope. I’d pay for that, in a New York minute.
It’s pretty certain they will be together. They’ve been going together 5 years. They were friends in middle school. They were in the same kindergarten and 1st grade classroom. He tells everyone they were in the same hospital nursery at birth because they have the same birthday. They were not born in the same hospital being he was born in Palestine. But its a funny thing he does.
How did he graduate college at 20?
And does he often lie to improve a story? I have an ex-husband that does that, made him even less trustworthy and me look dumb when I couldn’t tell which part was a lie around people who knew the truth.
He is an over-achiever. He was taking college classes in highschool. And he has went summers too. He’s smart as heck. The lil’wrekker is smart herself but he’s scary smart.
He doesn’t routinely lie that I can tell. That’s just a little joke he pulls out sometimes.
Hey, if his overachieving gets him a job that allows him to take 1-2 years off to go travel, more power to him. But most jobs won’t let you do that right out of college so his hard work would be for naught.
I know that. I’m trying to convince them of the mistake they would make. 20 somethings don’t always make level-headed decisions. I’m trying my damndest to steer them to the right course. Ultimately it will be their decision, not mine. I don’t have to like it. And I dang sure ain’t financing it.
It’s not a lie if it’s not done with intent to deceive. If he only says that when the people present know he was born in Palestine (or when he’s genuinely convinced that they know it), there’s no lie. I know two guys who happen to have the same name (first and both lasts, they’re Hispanic but from different countries, physically very different and born 30 years apart); a couple of times someone said “uh, so, are the two of you brothers?” “Yeah man, twins…” For that to count as a lie, the person who asked would need to be terminally stupid.
