Bedskirts

All of our beds have dust ruffles, even the crib back when we had one.

I don’t, but I have an old bed and actually have the box springs and mattress supported by the slats (no frame), so there’s really no good way for a bedskirt to hang.

I just keep a white fitted sheet on the box springs.

Do most of you guys just not use a full bedstead w/ footboard, siderails, etc? Or just a boxspring and mattress on a frame with just the headboard?

I love my bed. It’s got that 30’s deco thang going on, rounded and stepped corners and a faux-tortoishell sort of finish to the wood. The footboard goes almost to the floor, so at best you’d just see the skirt on the sides. Seems like a lot of fuss for minimal frillage.

The girliest thing that’s ever on my bed (um, besides me) is the satin edging on the down comforter.

I used to use them for that good ol hide- the- crap- shoved-under- the- bed reason, but my husband is allergic to dust. So we keep the place fairly clear. We have a lot of bare floor, simple window treatments, a futon instead of a sofa, and no dust ruffle.

Depending on the colors or print, I don’t think that dust ruffles are especially frou-frou or fussy.
