Beethoven's Symphony 7 in A Major

I just finished watching Scotland, PA, a recent update Shakespeare’s “Macbeth”. During a scene in the movie, Beethoven’s Symphony 7 in A Major plays. I know I’ve heard this piece before, not just as the instrumental it was composed as but with words. I asked Jeeves but to no avail. I’m thinking the version with words was either part of a musical or movie. I have no clue what the lyrics were either.

Does anyone have a clue what I’m talking about? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Didn’t Sarah Brightman do a vocal version?

She did. Check out Figlio perduto from her La luna album.

That’s it! I have the La Luna album somewhere…I forgot I had it. Thank you thank you thank you Dragon Phoenix!

On a related subject – in the movie Zardoz, they use a choral version without words that is incredibly beautiful. I’ve spent the last 25 years trying to figure out what the hell it is – c’mon Dopers, put me out of my misery.
