Before The Devil Know You're Dead: Great Film!

It seems to be one of those films slipping through the cracks this season, but if you have a chance, go see Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead.

It has a great cast and story is amazing. The twisted plot is about two brothers who have a seemingly fool-proof plan to score some easy money. Everything that can go wrong does go wrong and their plan goes from bad to worse to an out-of-control train wreck of disastrous proportions.

We had to pick between this and “I Am Legend” to see this week - and I think we made the smart choice!

If you like intricate plots of plans gone awry, I think this film should fulfill all of your expectations and then some!

I’m gonna watch it just to see Marisa Tomei naked. If it is also a good film that will be a bonus!

I just went out to see it and thought it was decent. I think that you could safely cut out a good fifteen minutes of “spending time watching the characters stare at the walls” without losing any of the feel for the characters and end up with a better film for it. As it was, it was a bit monotonous, making even the “intense” scenes seem to have the same amount of (lack of) vigor as every other scene.

You won’t be disappointed. She’s naked for about the first third of the film for all her scenes. Her role was of a not too bright trophy wife, though, so it was really a bit of a wasted part for her.

I quite liked it, anything with Ethan Hawke and PS Hoffmann is gonna get a look from me. It’d make a nice prozac double feature with No Country for Old Men, if you’ve of that sort of mind.

I liked it.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman trashing his house, in character, was. . .in some sense. . .completely hilarious. It was like the same motions that people go through in real flip outs, but restrained and controlled. You kept waiting for it to crescendo, and it never did.

But, I did find the movie slow. Sometimes I’m in the mood for that, and it’s the kind of movie I probably would enjoy more on a late night at home having a couple drinks, instead of going out on the town for dinner and a movie, dig?
