Before you buy the game, make sure it's the right version. (self-pit)

I finally got around to picking up Doom3 for my XBox today. I had heard it came with Ultimate Doom and Doom2. So I head over to GameStop and grab the first copy of Doom3 I see. (I was in a hurry to get to the dentist). After a double wisom tooth extraction, I point the car home for a night of making the undead suffer as I thought I’d be. (Script written for Vicodan, but the beer is doing just fine on its own)

So I load the disc, start kicking some ass in the new game and decide I’ve waited long enough to play the originals on a console. I hate playing FPS games on the PC because I just can’t handle doing the keyboard/mouse/macro/shortcut shit all at the same time. In other words, I’m really fucking pumped to try these classics out.

Ummmm, I’m having a problem at this point. I know it’s in there, I heard about it during pre-release sales back in March. Where the fuck are the other 2 games?!? I remember seeing in the manual the controls for both bonus games. Goddammit, I know it wasn’t a hallucination! Maybe I went to the wrong menu? I went back and read it again. I didn’t see the menu option it was listed as being in. Now I’m really confused. Then I notice the title of the chapter.

“Collector’s Edition Extras”

I bought the wrong fucking disc.

  • SIGH- :smack:

A gold medal is better than a silver… A golden age is better than a silver one… I got the Gold Star Wars original trilogy thinking it was the quality widescreen one.

Wrong! The silver one was the wide screen! :smack: #&@^@# *! Luckily the store accepted exchanging the already opened package, check if the store can exchange yours.

*[sub]to myself too, since lettering was indeed in the top saying “full screen”[/sub]

I can sympathise and add an extra layer of risk.

Here in the UK, we are used to excellent TV DVD’s (Law + Order / CSI etc) coming out on ‘Region 1 only’. So they won’t play on a standard UK DVD player.

But when I wanted to play Civilisation 3, nobody told me that there are two identical-looking versions of the game, which are incompatible for multi-player games. They are only distinguished by a couple of small letters on the DVD itself, so you can’t tell till you open your purchase whether you have the right one!
Grrr. :smack:

Thanks for the suggestion GIGO, I called the store and they said they’ll exchange it.

snoopy dance
