Being sick bites my arse...especially around Xmas!

Ugh! I have this hideous cold! My throat hurts and it’s so dry and swollen I have to keep drinking water every five seconds, or it feels like it’s closing up. I’m coughing up stuff and I keep having to blow my nose every other minute, or it runs and it’s all dry and sore…And my sinuses feel like they’re plugged with cement.
WHY? Why around CHRISTMAS do I ALWAYS have a fecking cold?
This sucks trolls!

Enh, not bad. “Fecking”?!?

Try being sick on your birthday with the chicken pox. So sick that your parents forget it’s your birthday.

Then, try that when you’re turning 15 and are very insecure and feel that everyone, including your parents, hate you. And you’re home sick for two weeks because of the chicken pox.

Then, try thinking about how long it would take you to drown yourself in those gadawful oatmeal baths.

Christmas? Feck, everyone’s sick now. Montfortmas? That’s something special. :stuck_out_tongue:

If your nose gets chapped, put some A&D ointment on it. It’ll help, really and truly.

If it’s any consolation, the CheKa Fly feels bad for you.

Get better soon!

I can top that. I’ve got a cold, it’s Christmas time, and it’s currently 34[sup]O[/sup] outside. You know how horrible it is running a fever when it’s that hot.
It sucks.

Guinastasia,

We’ve never met, and I really don’t know if your M/F so I’m not sure whether to send you a hug or just tell you to live with it.

Either way I agree that being sick this time of the year sucks. So damn much to do and so many people expecting so much out of you, and then you get a bug.

Hope you feel better soon …and since we’re in the pit, get the fuck well, ok?

I have been ill on Christmas for at least the last ten years.(I must be allergic) I am ill right now, so it is possible that I will have recovered by the 25th, breaking the current streak. That, or I will be hospitalized.

Tell me about it. Last year my husband caught that Death Flu that was going around. I’ve never seen him so sick. We nearly cancelled his plans to fly home to Nebraska with me and baby, but he rallied. He was utterly miserable, but managed to get us all there before retiring upstairs in my parents house to sleep for four days. THEN, our baby gets it while we’re there. He’s so miserable, he whimpered and cried constantly. He would never sleep for more than 20 minutes at a time. THEN I get it, and it was at its worst when we were flying back to Michigan. It took me seven weeks to get better because I was so worn out from nursing the other two. Holy mother of god, it was the worst Christmas ever.

This year, I caught something arouncd Thanksgiuving. It lingers. I finally got diagnosed with bronchitis and sinusitis, and think I will lick it before Christmas rolls around.

I hope you’re on the mend soon. I think the pressures of the season really wear on the immune system.

Female.

(Feck-we say it at Smile and Act Nice-I believe someone said it’s a British/Irish? version of Fuck).

Thanks, guys, I fucking appreciate it. BTW, Lynn, what’s A&D ointment…I’ve been trying vasoline…

Kinda speaks for itself, doesn’t it.
:stuck_out_tongue:

[sub]Love ya, Guin! Hope you’re feeling better.[/sub]

A&D is that stuff you smear on baby’s butt when he/she has a rash. It works wonders on chapped skin.

{{{{{{{{Guin}}}}}}}}}} I hope you feel better soon. Those colds can be rotten.

Olentzero-how many Cheka Flies did you send? We’ve had three-two that my dad killed and the one my cat ate…

Thanks, guys. I feel a LITTLE better today. And we’re having pizza for dinner…yummy!

I am sooo very with you on this one.

I had some minor surgery and unfortunately caught a cold just before, I was slow to recover (2 wks tomorrow), and this cold has now got an iron grip on me.

I lack endurance, strength, life force, or something.

I just want to feel better. Really soon.

I got shopping, shipping and house cleaning to go yet. But I feel like curling up in a ball, on my couch.

Sick at Christmas bites!

I’m feeling a bit better today.
Just ONE more day of work and then I’m off until the day after Xmas.
It was fun today-I got to work at the cash only register and could kick people out of line! HA!

I have the Cold that Ate Minnesota. I can’t sleep for long periods of time because I can’t breathe. My nose and the skin around it is chapped raw. (I gotta get some A&D tomorrow.) I have been living on diet soda because my throat is so sore.

I so desperately want to beat the shit out of the asshole who gave it to me. Sadly, it was probably MrRobyn or some random person at the mall, so vengeance isn’t possible. sigh

I’m under the impression that most people get sick around the holidays because they’re always doing too much.

You run around shopping, planning, going to work, this task, that task, wrapping those things you bought, trying to remember to 1500 things by the weekend and etc. - and what you really end up doing is wearing yourself out.

You don’t get enough sleep, you don’t ever just sit for a minute to relax after hauling those 12 bags of groceries filled with all the stuff you need to do the baking with up the 2 flights of stairs, you just can’t ever seem to relax, sometimes, you forget to eat lunch or maybe just some nights crash with out eating supper, you’ve got no energy to cook, no money or time to go out to eat, and find yourself settling with a cup on instant soup again tonight.

Too much to do equals even less time to take care of yourself and hence, you’re more easily pinned down by that flu bug given to you by that person in line ahead of you at the atm (who was apparently trying to take over the world or something, it took so long).

Of course, it could be something else entirely- and I’m just silly (stranger things have happened).

Anywho- I hope each of you who are bogged down with that vile sickness will be feeling keen in no time.

An update on the CTAM… it’s not a cold. Normal people get colds. I have bronchitis, with a little touch of sinusitis thrown in for good measure, and, the doctor thinks, a cold thrown in for good measure. Now I have to take antibiotics for a week and use inhalers. :frowning:

Ouch. A few suggestions-hot showers. Loosens the congestion, so you can breath easier.
Nice hot Orange Spice tea.

Guinny I didn’t know you were sick! Why am I just now seeing this thread?! You want me to come over, rub some Vick’s on your chest? If you can’t stand Vick’s maybe I could just rub your chest?

I’ve been practically living in the shower. It does help a lot. Tonight, I’m setting up the humidifier to see if that helps.

Thanks for the recommendation of the tea.
