Being the last poster of a thread and then it dies

I’ll see you one John Wayne and raise you I one Ellington.

But no one can stop “Of Earl”.

Boxmas?

Aren’t we supposed to wait for the Lords a Leaping and the Ladies Dancing?

Are the lords a leapin’ on the ladies dancing, and what the hell are those maids doing to those swans?

With 36 ladies dancing and only 30 lords a leapin, there should be a few left over.

IIUC boxing day is when people take down all of their Christmas decorations and put them away in boxes. It’s a little different around here.

Skelly went up in late September. The coat and hat went on him in early November. He probably will be put away a few weeks from now.

I’ve never heard that, and it seems unlikely since the name dates from centuries before Christmas decorations were common. Although it’s not known for certain, it seems to have something to do with the custom of giving boxes of gifts or gratuities to trades people on December 26th.

Plastic skeletons are very bad for the environment. Please use only genuine organically-sourced skeletons (you can even make them yourself, though it does take a fair bit of effort and possibly some wile).

And do check local regulations on hunting seasons before securing the skeleton.

Best procured during Tourist Season.

It’s not mine. That spot is an end point on one of my more ambitious daily walks.

Where in the world would I find an organically sourced skeleton that is twelve feet tall?

If twelve feet is what you really want you will have to put two skeletons on top of one another. But why?

Unless I’ve miscounted, two skeletons will only give you four feet.

My own skeleton is 6’4" standing on two feet, so it could count as 8. Too complicated? Another reason to stick to metric. Make it 1,92 on two size 45 shoes and you are good.
I am not giving my skeleton away just yet anyway.

Your neighbors might have a bone (or several dozen) to pick with you.

Mine are only 9 1/2.

The snark “Act your age and not your shoe size!” makes much more sense in the UK than in continental Europe. I guess the USA follows the UK’s way?

Never heard that one before. I’ll have to try it sometime.

US shoe sizes are more similar to UK sizes than to continental sizes, but are not exactly the same. Many shoes that I’ve bought have several different size standards listed. My current shoes have a label that says

US 10
UK 9.5
EU 44
JPN 28
