Belated Weekly Comic Book Discussion 5/28/2009

Three Marvel books for me this week - Nova, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Incredible Hercules. Plus the usual DC batch.

Picked up a few I’d missed before, this week.

Supergirl #41 - Rather interesting twist at the end, but since I don’t think they milked that whole set-up for all that it’s worth, I don’t believe what they showed us at face-value, either.

Superman #27 - Mon-El is one of my favorite characters from the LSH. “Lar Gand, Science Cop”… not so much. It is getting tiresome, having writers downplay or nerf the Kryptonian-level folks – if they can’t write an interesting story with the character as-is, they should be writing on another book. At least someone remembered that they’d cameo’d poor Telus a while back.

JSA #27 - Too soon to tell, but liked the start.

GL #38 - finally got a copy, long after the storyline has moved on.

GL #41 - Larfleeze is awesome, Hal is a welsher, and the war of light is going to be ugly and fun.

Well, the fellow that cameoed Tellus, James Robinson, is writing the book… so yeah.

If you’re actually trusting a writer to remember to return to a throwaway plotline introduced entire crossover events ago… well, you’re more trusting than I, my friend.
