Here it is. Still reading mine for the week - I think I missed a good issue of X-Factor, but #14 is solid anyway.
The Exiles annual - such a promising premise, such crappy art.

52 - Now we know where Talon comes from. Love the bit between Captain Marvel jr and Osiris. Sobek is adorable. Not fond of the artist…they make the shadow on Raven’s face look like a mask.
A-Next - Eeeeh. Still not bad, but it’s declining. Saberclaw is getting tiresome, as is Thena.
The Escapist #6 of 6. - Quite possibly the finest ending in mini-series history. Realistic, true to character, uplifting and inspiring. They absolutely delivered the goods on this one. Go buy it. I hope there’ll be another series someday.
Others this week…but who cares next to that one. Buy it, love it.
I picked up the first issue of “The Escapists,” loved it, and then my shop didn’t get the other issues until the final one (shitty!). I’ve resigned myself to picking up the trade whenever it appears. It seemed great.
Fall 2007 they say in issue #6, I’m afraid.
Batman’s fill-in arc continues to be adequate, and it’s a type of story that I enjoy seeing, so all is good.
I picked up this week’s and last week’s 52 issues. Some interesting stuff.
Who’s our shortlist of Supernova suspects?
Ray Palmer
Carter Hall
Lightray
Ray Terrill
Mon-El
Snapper Carr
Ambush Bug
Mister Miracle
Rip Hunter
Booster Gold
the Eradicator
I read another entertaining theory on a comic blog today - based on the clues that ‘Superman out of the picture was key’ and the suggestion by the editor that Supernova may be more than one individual - the theory was that Supernova was a mannequin piloted by the Superman Emergency Squad from Kandor.
Do they exist in this continuity? Anyway, it may be that there’s two Supernovas, as Ralph also said “one of two keys, if you want to be cute about it”.
Welcome to Tranquility #1: This series is going to be a lot of fun. I loved the Emoticon and the Sherrif’s faux-cursing.
Mystery in Space #3-4: I like what they’re doing with Captain Comet. My psi-stuff, less physical toughness. The story continues to unwrap very well. I love how the Weird story is interlaced with it.
52 Week 32: Much love for the Accomplished Perfect Physician. I really want Ralph to find some measure of peace now.
Justice League of America #4: Meltzer knows that his strengths lie in characterization, but his characters seem a bit off to me. He’s got some great plot ideas (love the reveal of the big bad), but his pacing is just awful. If I described this book to you, it’d sound pretty good, but in practice I found it rather boring.
Martian Manhunter #5: But not as boring as this, which is also overly dark and a bit confusing. My consolation is that it’s so forgettable that J’onn will be back to his usual round-headed self in no time (probably after Meltzer leaves JLoA). Why am I still reading this? Mostly because there’s only three issues left.
Batman #660: Johnny Kareoke’s interesting, for a 5-th tier villain, and the mystery’s going pretty well.
Green Lantern Corps #7: Hmm… Not sure what I think about this. The new Lantern’s cool, but I’m not sure the GLC really needed an ultra-edgy black ops unit.
Gargoyles #2: If we’re going to have this long a wait between issues, than I’m going to need to see a little more.
The Trials of Shazam #4: Hey, they actually said Iraq! Not Quarc or some other fictional country. Now the Internet will explode. Nice going guys. Good issue.
WHAT continuity? (drum sting) But no, seriously, they’re as likely to return as, say, Egg Fu. I can’t parse the ‘keys’ statement as reflecting on the multiple nature of Supernova easily, since one of the ‘keys’ is Superman’s absence.
I think I picked this up last week, of course, but yes, it’s a solid one.
Paced for the trade-itis. On the bright side, it’s waaaaaaaaaay better than this week’s JLA : Classified, which continues to wallow in mediocrity.
Sadly, this week’s issue was one of the better ones, where we’re getting an interesting plot twist - at last - and referencing the Manhunter’s prior continuity.
Trials of Shazam was solid; GLC was way cool, in my book. Check out the Oan agent’s last name. That’s continuity right there. And the connection to Captain Comet, and Green Lantern’s first arc.
I highly recommend the Infinite Christmas special - The Supergirl story is good, the Batwoman story’s okay, the Shazam story is interesting, the Shadowpact story is laugh out loud funny. The Flash story is (sorry) pedestrian, but … the last story in the anthology is as funny as anything I’ve read since Superman/Batman : World’s Funnest.
Curses! I’ve been found out!
GLC - I like the concept of the Corps having a black ops team. I do wonder why they haven’t implemented the 5-day charge in the rings, not just the dots. ‘The Corpse’ is a really lame name for it, though. Interesting (to me, in any case) that the boss’s sporting the traditional Durlan look, with the visible antennae and normal humanoid eyes, not the ‘base’ look with the tentacles, or Chameleon’s weird smooth-head Barney Rubble look.
Firestorm - Pionic Man and Head Dolli are great. ‘Is this a “Brokeback Mountain” thing or a “Felix and Oscar” thing?’ Speaking of Lemon and Landau, Stein is one grumpy old man. Not that he doesn’t have reason to be, of course.
Also commenting on the “who is Supernova?” list, above:
I’m pretty sure it can’t be Mon-El – recent events in Action Comics and in the preview ads for its annual would indicate that the Kryptonian kid – Zod’s son – is going to end up as the Mon-El who is just now showing up in LSH. Also, Ralph doesn’t know Mon-El, and it’s apparent that he and whoever Supernova is know each other passingly well
I haven’t read everything from this week yet, but I second the recommendation for the Infinite Christmas Special. The last story was especially awesome…
and the entirely superfluous Elseworlds logo made me laugh even harder. Yeah, thanks for clearing that up!
What makes you say that? The only reference to Mon-El/Valor in the information about the Action annual we’ve been given so far is the story ‘Who is Clark Kent’s Big Brother?’, which would be a strange way to refer to his adopted son. As well as being a reference to the story where he was originally introduced, which, if anything, suggest he’s being changed to be more like his original version, not less.
Yeah, so far they’re recapping the end of the series. (The real end, not the crap that followed it.) I suppose it’s necessary, if only to establish where the two continuities diverged.
Weisman said that they had “some bugs in the new system”, whatever that means, but that we should expect them to start sticking to the schedule now. That means we should see #3 in a couple of months, and he promises that it will be new material and kick off a new arc. I certainly hope so.
On the other hand, this issue’s recap did include my favorite MacBeth line ever.
Ah, a new wrinkle for Supernova that I’ve seen on a few messageboards.
His powers are somewhat similar to those displayed by Star Tsar (whose powers were based in his costume.)
The Star Tsar suit was first given to Snapper Carr by… the Key. (“One of TWO Keys, if you want to be cute about it.”)
While it’s not necessarily Snapper under the mask, the Star Tsar suit, given a visual makeover, might be “the one device that ties it all together.”
And didn’t he cameo fighting GLs in China verrrrry early in 52? I’ll have to check.
One other theory I saw was Jack Knight, who is supposed to get an appearance in 52, using a cosmic rod variant.
But I keep coming back to Star Tsar…
Candid Gamera:
That was Evil Star, who as far as I know is not connected to Star-Tsar.
Still, it’s definitely an intriguing line of thought.
Ahhhh, you’re probably right. My brain would confuse the two.
Ultimate X-Men - Last page…huhn. I’m one of the few people who like Ultimate Cable, apparently, but I’m really liking this storyline. And Ultimate Goblin Queen is looking interesting.
Infinite Holiday Special - Ow. Too much funny in the Shadowpact and Batman/Superman stories. Some good bits in the Green Lantern, Bat Woman and Supergirl stories, too. The Trials of Shazam story was pretty lame, though.
I also got Robin, this week - not too bad. Tales of the Unexpected continues to baffle and impress. Gen 13 warms up a little…
Outer Orbit from Dark Horse is hilarious, much better than I expected.
Then, of course, there’s Ex Machina, with a sort of standalone issue that works, I think.
52 #32: Loved the Titans bit, especially the croc in a hoodie.
Firestorm #32: Loved the diner scene. A good send-off from a great team.
There are preview of #33 at Newsarama and they are awesome. Can’t wait to see what McDuffie does with this book.
Manhunter #26: “Video material” indeed. This was my first issue of Manhunter. It didn’t knock me over like my first issue of, say Invincible, but I’ll be back for more.
