Bernie Sanders Fans Plan DNC "Fart-In"

Sorry, I meant flatulent.

Okay. I missed that stuff last night.

What DID transpire with the upset Bernie people. Some booing? Some walking out?

Though I must admit I was kinda pulling for the fart thing to work somehow.

And while I think Bernie is a damn communist, it does irk me that it looks like he got shafted and I don’t blame his supporters one bit for being mad a hell.

I hope they were careful. Some of them are so full of shit, they might have some accidental sharting.

Pretty die-hard Bernie Supporter myself, don’t think this will do much.

The choice is bad versus revolting now, so I’ll pull the lever for bad as is the norm. Meanwhile, the fact that Sanders almost conquered the deeply entrenched and playing by their own rules party insiders means that it is possible for liberals to take one of the major parties and have an actually strong and liberal choice in a presidential election in the future.

While I’m pissed that Bernie got predictably shafted by the cutthroat unethical or illegal behaviors that skewed this election or made it impossible for Bernie supporters to vote in the primary, (which is the only time you ever get to choose between good and bad as opposed to bad and worse), the fact that he got as much support as he did in a supposedly conservative country like the United States makes me a believer that liberal policies will have some effect in the future, that the Democratic party is vulnerable to actually being taken over by people who have some interest in the common good, and that future elections will have good outcomes.

There’s not that much to be upset about in the scheme of things. Hell, if you’d have run most of the Democrats instead of Hillary and one of them won instead, it wouldn’t even be this bad an outcome. I’d be happy with Biden. It’s mostly just because Hillary represents the absolute worst in terms of craven calculated power-hungry career politicians, so she’s a very bad representative for either Democrats in general or liberals in particular.

I generally agree with that, except there is a contradiction that I’d like to point out. Hillary is a terrible campaigner and people don’t like her. Bernie did really well against her, but I doubt he’d have done anywhere near as well against someone like Biden. I’m not so sure an “he got so much support as he did” is indicative of how a similarly positioned pol will do int he future who is not up against HRC.

Oh, people didn’t know what a “closed primary” was! Whether that applied in their state & they might have planned ahead to get a voice? I’m from Texas–where our primaries are OPEN! Should every state be like Texas?

The caucuses were more undemocratic. But Bernie did very well in caucus states. Let’s stop having caucuses & open all the primaries!

Or else they might all Feel the Bern!

Enjoy,
Steven

But Democrats do like her. She almost beat Obama. I know she was favored at the time, but when the underdog has the skills of Obama and his team, coming in a very close second was a pretty decent accomplishment.

I don’t think she’s a terrible campaigner – she’s just a B- compared to Obama and Bill Clinton’s A+.

She only has a 60% favorability rating among Democrats.

The nomination in '08 was hers to lose. And she lost it.

The presidency is hers to lose in '16. Let’s hope she doesn’t lose it!

She’s at 72% among Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents. Presumably, among only Democrats, she’s even higher.

This is the level the Bernaholics have to stoop to to get press? They are a non entity. Hopefully the press will ignore the idiots.

They can’t, its something to talk about.

This is my take away as well. Nobody is swinging from deep Republican land to feel the Bern, so Trump’s slice of the pie gets bigger because everyone else’s gets smaller.

Not so hot among independents as a whole.

“Pre-(GOP) convention, independents split 34% Clinton to 31% Trump, with sizable numbers behind Johnson (22%) and Stein (10%). Now, 46% say they back Trump, 28% Clinton, 15% Johnson and 4% Stein.”

Of course, Clinton could “bounce” back considerably in polling after the DNC convention.

Thanks to this dumb thread, I have a tune from the original “The Producers” going through my head.

Fart power. I’m talking about fart power.
The power of a disgusting flower is gonna rule the earth.
And there’ll be a great rebirth
Hey world, you stink!
Man, it’s later than you think

Hillary, your father was a hamster and your mother smelt of elderberries, you silly-faced wiper of other people’s bottoms!

Regards,
Monty Sanders

The hats were not intended to evoke Peter Pan but Robin Hood, as in take from the rich to give to the poor.

These people think they deserved to win. Right.

Ah. Thank you. I would not have guessed that explanation.

(I like mine better.)

The venue wouldn’t allow them to bring longbows.

The Hillary people are endlessly telling the Bernie people “if you don’t support us, President Trump is your fault.” They *could * say, “we need you to beat Trump, so here is a political concession added to the party plank that you’ll really like,” but that would be consensus-based democracy, something to which they appear to be temperamentally opposed.

Except they’ve already done that. They added a number of Sanders-backed planks to the platform–an unprecedented number, I believe–including a minimum-wage hike, public option for healthcare, a path to legalization of marijuana, free higher education, new regulations and reduced or eliminated subsidies and breaks for fossil fuel industries, and other things.

Did they get everything on their wish list? No. They probably wouldn’t have gotten the whole list even if they’d won. But the party has certainly made concessions in the interest of unity.
