In this thread, I asserted that Bert and Ernie (from Sesame Street) slept in the same bed; after a couple of people disagreed, I sheepishly retreated to the position that they used to sleep in the same bed, there was yet more disagreement and (thread is locked now, so we’re here) I’m now starting to wonder if maybe I imagined it all, or have unconsciously applied one single instance to the whole set.
A Google search on Bert Ernie “in the Same bed” reveals that, at the very least, I’m not entirely alone in this belief; I’m not exactly in the most reputable of company either. No photographic evidence of bed-sharing is offered online.
So, did I imagine it all? We’re talking 20+ years ago here, but in my mind’s eye, I can clearly see an argument about who was hogging the blanket (which was, in the best tradition of such comic moments, too small to cover them both properly).
For what it’s worth, Mangeout, I have the same memory: Bert and Ernie arguing about who got the covers… and as I recall, the bed they were both in seemed entirely too small for both of them as well.
It may be that they were both forced to sleep in one of the single beds for some reason on one occasion and that this is what I am remembering - I was able to find a script where Ernie climbs into bed with Bert to eat cookies (because he doesn’t want crumbs in his own bed).
