Me too. I also voted for The Matrix. I had to think about it, since I didn’t like the two Matrix sequels. But considered on it’s own, pretending the sequels don’t exist, it’s my favorite out of the four movies in the poll.
T2 is a great movie, and I really enjoyed True Lies. I also liked the Bourne Identity, but for me this is the opposite to how I feel about The Matrix - I actually like the Bourne Supremacy/Ultimatum a bit more than I liked Identity.
The only two that deserve any consideration are T2 and the Matrix. The ideas driving Terminator are much tighter than the Matrix, and Terminator is generally a much more tense movie. So Terminator 2 gets the nod from me.
As an aside, a somewhat gobsmacked that True Lies is even under consideration. Don’t get me wrong - it’s a decent flick, but not one of the the best 4 of two decades. Really, The Dark Knight should be in it’s place.
